If it is a ham radio, it has illegal frequencies on it if you aren’t licensed. You can listen all you want, you just can’t speak.

I'd like to have one of the Kenwood 710's. Really like it with the remote head option.

But I'd usually buy something like you posted also but this Baofeng has the illegal Freq's man. You just can't pass up a deal to listen in on something you're not supposed to. lol

 

I know it's all illegal if you're not licensed I'm talking about the thing the FCC just ruled on.

I thought all Ham radios had those frequencies? You just can't use them

I'm not sure. It would be no different than having a scanner correct? Well, I guess you can't talk back on a scanner though. Maybe that's the issue is that you can talk back on those frequencies and aren't supposed to. Maybe other Ham's have those frequencies but you can't talk on them. With the Baoefungwhatever you can??

I guess it's the able to operate on aviation and government Freq's. I'd just like to listen to those. Most scanner's I've seen and owned don't allow even listening to military Freq's.

 

Would have been neat to hear what those guys were talking about that night the military unidentified aircraft was circling the neighborhood!

 

What I'm thinking. Bet that was a radio silence operation if they are flying blacked out though.

 

Probably so. I know it was two Osprey's for sure. They had to be chasing a drone (unidentified) of some sort. I'm sure it was radio silent like you said though.
