Too much city folk I reckon. Just city ordinance... nothing larger than a .22.

Damn.. 2 hours? Into DC everyday?

It'll be interesting to see what 18s are left color wise and transmission wise when I get back. Should be able to score a good deal though with Labor Day sales and trying to clear 18s for 19s arrival. Plus Toyota has a promotion running through Sept 4th. I think I want either white, cement or quicksand... maybe inferno. But I see a lot of black, gray and silver on most dealer inventories in the area.

Ha, I wish.... Virginia regs say you can't deer hunt with anything less than .23 and PWC says I cant shoot anything larger than .22.

My property is only a bit over 5 acres... a rifle would really be overkill anyway. It's pretty heavily wooded and longest shot would prolly be 30-50 yards depending. It's a good property for bow or shotgun.

Oh, I know the hunting law. I was speaking about just shooting on your property. Throw a can on it, and have a day.

    edit.

I'm waiting for the state to change the law on deer, due to the fact that I can hunt with a 556 in NC, PA, and WV.

Yea I could prolly target shoot with no issues... my neighbor above me has 10 acres and built a small range. We shoot up there a decent amount. We just inform the rest of the neighbors on our private drive so they know what's going on.

That would be sweet - are they supposed to be changing it?

I don't see why they wouldn't. There are 2 things stopping it in my mind. The more anti gun/ anti hunting people in our state, and fudds.

Ohh.. I figured there may have been a petition or legislation set in place already to change it with how you worded it. I could use 556 in SC and it would be nice to in VA as well. But I need to get more land or find a bigger piece of property to hunt for it to matter.

Heavens no! Lol! My commute is 1 hour from Warrenton to Quantico, then reverse in the afternoon. My first color choice was cement, which was only an option on the 17 Pro (too much $) or 18's. I guess I can't really call cement my first choice since I wasn't willing to spring for a Pro. My "second" color choice was tied between gray and silver. Red was third, which is what I ended up with. Hindsight being what it is, I wouldn't have minded a white one either. There weren't any 17 MT TRD OR 4x4 with prem/tech available in this region, regardless of the color when I was shopping (Jan 18). I actually found the silver one (non-MT) I was looking for in Manassas, but they would not budge on pricing. So, I ended up with my red AT TRD OR loaded out with the options I wanted.

You should still have a good selection of 18's left to look for and snag an MT if that's what you want...my only suggestion is to test drive both and to not settle if you don't have to. Don't get me wrong, I love my truck and plan on keeping it for quite a while. However, if Toyota ever re-releases Pyrite Mica back to the Tacoma line...I may have to take my ass to the dealer and trade for one with MT. Just saying... :spy: :D

I figured you might have been at Quantico but didn't think it was that far. I guess I was confused and thought 2 hours one way.

I like gray and silver too and would be fine with them as well as the aforementioned colors. I'd prefer both tech and premium but that's not a deal breaker for me. Deciding on AT and MT and color will be the hard decisions. Looking at inventories of dealers in the area and Sheehy in Stafford has a good selection. As well as Koons in Tyson. The closest to me, Warrenton Toyota and Miller in Manassas, don't have much.

    3 more weeks!!

If you go to Sheehy in Stafford, let me know. I will give you the salesman's name and number I worked with...he was great! Sheehy also has a sister dealership in Fredericksburg, so there is that inventory too. I wish I could say good things about Warrenton Toyota (2 miles from my house), but I can't. That dealership was the worst when I was shopping, and they haven't been any better for service either.

You can also check out Lustine Toyota in Woodbridge. They are an awesome dealership to work with, I havent had a single issue with them. Can recommend a sales consultant there as well if you find something in their inventory. They work some pretty good deals.

I plan on visiting 3 or 4 to try and get the best deal. Mainly want to see who is going to give me the most for my current truck on trade in. Sheehy and Koons are top of the list just because of the inventory numbers. I'll definitely take your salesman's information though.

Thanks for the heads up about Warrenton, and that sucks. It's the closest to my house too but only by a few miles compared to the Manassas dealership.

I get home the 31st and plan on having a Tacoma by the 4th which is when the current promotion ends. 1.9% financing or 1k cash back.

ive purchased 1 truck from Lustine, and 1 from Miller in Manassas.

I liked both. But I had cash, but both of the deals were pretty easy for me.

If I didn't have to spend 90k on the wife's school next year, I'd pay cash too. Its funny how cash deals go so much better....

Loudoun has the same ordnance, but they have a cutoff line, it's basically all the larger populated areas are no rifle discharge, bow shotgun only for hunting.
I currently am outside that line, so can still use a rifle. But the board of supervisors has been working on changing that.
