    Hey guys, I recently installed my 285 70 17s on my 07 Tacoma and was looking at flares. I know, typically everyone's go-to is Bushwacker, but there are some cheaper options out there. I'm wondering if anyone has ever used flares OTHER than Bushwacker. I plan to have these color matched, so I'm focusing on smooth texture flares, and would like to be able to convert these to bolt on in case i decide to cut up my fenders down the road.

    Bushwacker = $499 (unpainted)

    True Edge Rivetz = $325 (unpainted)
    https://www.realtruck.com/trueedge-rivetz-fender-flares/R184591P2007Y608MA.html

    True Edge Rivetz = $630 (painted)
    https://www.realtruck.com/trueedge-painted-rivetz-fender-flares/R185598P2007Y608MA.html

    Black Horse Flares = $290 (unpainted)
    https://www.realtruck.com/black-horse-fender-flares/R185111P2007Y608MA.html

    Thoughts? Opinions? :confused::confused:

    I'm leaning towards the Black Horse because they are cheaper, paint ready, look decent and it's hard for me to justify spending $500 on flares. However, should there be some reason why I should buy Bushwacker, besides paying for the brand name, I will. If anyone has used any of the other brands, please chime in with your experience on their products.

    Same problem here. Trying to decide which ones are the better but more affordable option. Just want matte black ones. EGR's are 515.00 on most sites. Black horse seems to offer a limited lifetime warranty also.

    I’ve been considering these flares, personally. I know I’m just going to cut them up when I trim my fenders, plus they’re paint ready. Just throwing them out there for consideration.

    So far so good with RDJ Fender Flares (I did Textured, smooth is paintable). Good overall "middle of the road" product. The installation takes a good amount of time for a bolt on and elbow grease on both the weatherstripping (2 hours) and the mounts (1 hour) but overall is not overly technical. Need goodlighting source and a helper would have been nice when pressing on truck. Overall fit was fine...the provided screws are completelyuseless, but the factory screws are fine. Primary reason I chose these was to increase wheel wellclearance post lift where the mud flaps used to be, but once installedI also really like the look too.

    Anyone find a good option for an aftermarket flare that allows you to bring the fender well back a touch near the door etc so you can trim and mount clean looking flares after you cut to fit 35s?
    If someone does make this I think they would make a tonne of money lol

    Bought these: https://www.ebay.com/itm/For-2012-2...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

    FYI: My truck is a 2010 with the facelift but I purchased the 2012+ flares which may have been the cause of my fitment issues.

    [IMG]

    Looks: 9/10
    Quality: 10/10
    Fitment: 7/10 (Had to drill about 16 new holes total. Does not line up with old flare lines. Front section of rear flares do not touch the truck)
    Mounting: 0/10 (NONE of the bolts were long enough! Had to buy all new 30mm M8 stainless bolts)

    I was thinking of buying this ebay fender flares and trying to look for feedbacks. I noticed that you have a shortbed but the link you provided is for a long bed. Are they pretty much generic compared to bushwackers?

    Generic in the sense of fitment or looks? They look much better IMO. As for fitment, I had a number of issues, most likely due to them being for a long bed and 2012+. That being said, I made it work and am very happy with them!

    Generic in the sense that they will fit whether for short bed or long bed cause I know Bushwacker has specific model for short bed and long bed. BTW, the ones you have are real bolt on unlike Bushwackers, right?
    Thanks for the reply!

    Im not sure about the differences between the short and long bed models, but they did not fit out of the box. The flares dont line up with my old flare "grooves", the holes didnt line up and there was a lot of drilling and cutting involved. Yes it comes with real hardware but the bolts were too short for me so I ended up buying all new bolts, washers and locknuts.
