I was wondering the same. It looks like it is a port installed option rather than factory installed.

    Here's the part number:
    http://mobile.accessories.setbuyatoyota.com/details/Tacoma/2017/2937/Options/CP1000/90977

I couldn't find a video of Toyota factory install on a Tacoma, but here's a video of install on a Corolla:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CLGtnPFv_-M

Installation looks very similar to other threads in the forums with aftermarket parts.
It also appears that you could use the part to replace the existing cigarette lighter plug in the front console.

    Found the part on Ebay:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/172220394818?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

And the associated cables in the Phone Cable & Charge Package:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/191923537756?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

I think I'll install it myself and save a few bucks; it looks like a fun little Saturday morning project.

It's located in the center of the console.

How much space does it take up inside the console?

pretty ridiculous that the tacoma doesn't already have some back there in the double cab.

None. You can't see it on the inside.

ah so that gets connected to the front console acc/usb port? is it easy to get that center console/bin trim off?

I wanted to install a dash cam DVR in the arm console bin with a console vault, with a lens that would record in the vehicle. that way if someone broke in they would be recorded on video, but the DVR would be locked in the console vault. I would also want to install USB in the rear.

It came with the rear USB installed so I don't know how difficult it would be. I like your idea though.

there isnt the "perfect" dash cam for me to do it yet tho. I used the street guardian SGZC12RC with is almost exactly what I want. But I would prefer no LCD screen, with a wifi app instead to access the menu, and an IR camera. Blackvue has an IR camera but only for their 650 2CH system, which means the memory card is accessible from the main front camera.

but you said your tacoma came with the USB installed? was that just a dealer specific option?

It was a port installed option.

Mine came with the USB already inside the arm rest console, also with that said bag with cable charging accessories.

    I installed this:
    https://www.amazon.com/BlueFire-Charger-Socket-Outlet-Voltmeter/dp/B01F3I117E/
After removing the console I bored a hole for the charger socket, then ran a line up to the front of the cab and to the passenger kick plate. I then wired in a 5A inline fuse there and spliced it to my dashcam power line which goes all the way to a relay / dedicated fuse panel in the engine compartment. I didn't take any pictures while everything was torn up, but can answer questions.

I already installed it. What would you like to know? I can take a picture of the finished product from the back seat if you want me to.
The important thing to know is that the entire center console can be removed if you take the carpet out of the armrest cubby and remove the bolt(s) underneath and then work the clips out from around the cupholders back.

I thought these were standard... my 17 has it unless it's only a premium/17 option? o_O

Just a quick lesson learned to anyone who plans to do this mod: Take the extra 5 minutes to remove the armrest area entirely. There’s a cross member that will mess you up if you’re not careful...

I'm looking into self install a dual USB charging socket. Can I quick splice into the 12V plug inside my center console? Just wondering if it would be easier to connect to the closest power connection.
Page #2, post #21 Toyota Tech's had ran power connection to dash 12V plug.

I spliced into the 12V plug in the center console, not the dash like in the video. I have the actual install instructions for the Tacoma that I can post later. I am moving this week and my home computer with the file is already packed.
