17-18 average is great for a 4x4 offroad. I think people that get 20+ live in flat suburbs where the average speed limit is 40-50mph. I used to spend my Augusts in Minnesota visiting family and we have a Prius out there, also had one here in San Diego, I'd always average high 30s in San Diego but I'd get 45+ in Minnesota. I think most vehicles will see their maximum efficiency cruising at around 45mph (which is the speed of the "highway" EPA MPG rating).

If you live in a city you're usually either <30mph in stop and go conditions or cruising at 65+ on the freeway, neither of which maximizes MPG. In places like minnesota you get long stretches of 40-50mph cruising which really ups your mileage.

I only have a 3 miles commute to work with a lot of stop and go (gotta love university campus) but its usually around 18mpg but I do a lot of weekend stuff on highways 60-80mph which brings my MPG average to 21-22ish total

It took me a year and half to find an ethanol free gas pump, it was so old that I had to cycle on and off about 10 times before it could even pump fuel. Anyways it did not change my MPGs like I had expected it would, but at least I know where to get fuel for my weed whacker and generator now.

Toyota logic. Best is only of the "stored samples". The current live version isn't compared, apparently.

DCSB TRD Sport 4x4, getting around 22 mpg. I have been doing a little more city driving in the last few weeks than usual, so I might be able to get a little better than that.

EDIT: That's with 87 Octane, 10% ethanol gas. My latest tank I put ethanol free in to see the difference, but so far haven't noticed much difference. The ethanol free was from Kroger, however, and other fuels I've gotten at name brand stations (Texaco, BP, etc), so the additives in those stations may be better than Kroger ethanol free.

ACLB TRD Sport 6mt. Mix of highway and surface streets. As long as I keep it under 70 (pretty easy with Philly traffic) and don't pull away fast at intersections, I can average 22-23mpg. Though as the screen shows some days are better than others. haha

Wow really? We have one station here that’s has a dedicated pump. I usually go there for my small engine gas. Noticed the other day at one of the popular local chains their 93 premium contains no ethanol. So maybe a few of the stations are selling it that way now. Can’t remember the octane rating of the place I usually go. Always thought it was just 87 with no ethanol. Maybe it is 93 :notsure:

Everything around here is strictly E10 no matter the grade, I just happened upon that E0 at a big lake where boats run all the time.

Just look around you might be surprised. I know there is one type of station around here and they have ethanol free, they were the first in the area to offer it after all the trouble with small engines. Don’t believe they had any stations in my county though. Then the one chain carried it only on 1 pump. Actually before they Carried it, that pump was a ethanol pump. Forget the grade or whatever but it was back when all that flexfuel crap was out. They had it for a few years and then I noticed they changed over to full non ethanol. My guess is you’ll start seeing a few non ethanol pumps or the premium will contain non ethanol like at the one station I noticed it. Too many small engines getting ruined. Actually think I read something a while back and they got approval to start using E-15. So it’s very possible most pumps will start using that. Not sure any in my area are, as of yet

I get 19.5 to 20.5 MPG's on my stock 4x4 currently at 3200 miles. Was getting about 17 to 19 when it was less than 2000 miles.
