If we're talking BBQing music, then it's Tom Petty for me. I have a playlist that is a brisket cook long. This isn't all of it, but...

Start with this shout out to those that don't understand the obsession that gets someone up at the wee hours of the morning to begin cooking:

Tell that chunk of meat where it's headed:

Then get your mind right for the task at hand:

Remind yourself that BBQ is about time and patience:

    Relax for a while:

Once the blood (and bourbon) is flowing a little bit, start picking up the energy:

For that time where you absolutely must take a peek at the meat:

You can even play something for the neighbor when they poke their head over the fence to see what's cooking:

For that inevitable moment where the pit and/or meat doesn't do what it's supposed to:

    But you fight through it:

When the party asks if the meat is almost ready:

After you cut that perfect slice and don't want anyone else to have it:

Then you sit back, while all of the guests' eyes roll in to the back of their heads and they tell you how awesome your BBQ is:

When I'm out smoking food my music usually ranges from Metallica (pre-country music songs) , some KORN, Lots of Foo Fighters, Sound Garden, and Van Halen (I like Van Halen and Van Hagar). So shows there my musical tastes are lol.

Reported! Reason given: Apologizing for liking Tom Petty

I too like Tom Petty's music but I also love him as Lucky Kleinshmidt on King of the Hill. Sometimes you just get lucky and slip on some pee pee at the Costco and get your brisket paid for.

There was some effort in those posts! And I'm totally making that list :bananadance:

All excellent choices! I usually just let Pandora or Amazon music steer me. But every now and then I have to correct course. Like How did Taylor swift get on here...:anonymous: for the last 2 hours

Also, a funny (ish) story... I was jamming to a song awhile back at last job and coworker asked why I liked Taylor Swift... Huh?

apparently a rock goes punk cover thing.

in hind sight, the lyrics are pretty bad but it was playing in the background and the music was keeping me going

A final also... There's way too much Taylor Swift talk here recently

so I'll go back to another Female (duo) that :headbang:

If you like covers like that you should check out Leo Moracchioli on YouTube his channel is called Frog Leap Studios. Guy is awesome, he takes songs and turns them Metal. Does ALL sorts of stuff from the Frozen Song to things like Sledgehammer. I stumbled on his channel a couple years back and it's been a favorite since. Heart rocked also, for newer female bands have you checked out The Pretty Reckless? The lead singer played Cindy Lou Who in How The Grinch Stole Christmas (Jim Carey version).

I think we are going to head over to Costco on Saturday (it's about 45-Mins to an Hour from us now) to pick up 2 or 3 briskets, may see if they have some of the ribeye cap steaks and how their prices are on pork belly and butt. Need to do some more smoking, which also reminds me I need to order more pellets.

    Good point.

And I forgot about the recurring character on King of the Hill! Next YouTube rabbit hole for me ;).

Huge Tom Petty fan, though. Saw him on his last tour. My two girls can sing a lot of his stuff. They surprise the hell out of people when we're out and they recognize his music being played.

Miss the hell out of that dude. :(
The list was longer, but I couldn't have more than 10 videos per post .

The live versions of some of those songs, plus some deeper cuts, mixed with a little Traveling Wilburys and Mudcrutch and you have yourself one hell of a playlist! :D

    Thanks Gents.

Bryan, yes we'll be there. Looking forward to it. One-off menu items are good. Also volunteer to be a tester for any new recipes or rubs.
Or if you decide to get into distilling.

I mean, this isn't technically grilled or smoked, but I did use the side burner on my grill. This is a bunch of red jalapenos from my garden being turned into hot sauce. I've never done this before, but it's really good.
