I'm refering back to this post above as there is a difference in the multiple TSB's. I hope the tech was in the know, as we have all experienced this is not always the case with our dealerships.

So just had this done, but was curious for those that had it completed, did the dealer put the mod sticker under your hood? Just looked when I got home and it wasn’t there. It’s listed on I think the last page of the TSB.

Dropped by my dealer to get my 20k service done and it’s a 2 hour wait for that. Went to ask about the software updates and they said they’re backed up and would be about 2-3 hours to get that done but no questions asked. They sent me away with an appointment for next week and told me that they’ll update it and any other issues that are associated with the transmission being clunky and not preforming like it should.

Ready to see what all this talk is about next week when it gets updated!

Just read this thread and called my dealership. I said I wanted to take my truck in to get a T-SB that came out recently and the lady with no other questions asked, scheduled me for tomorrow, I asked if they wanted to know which TSB i was talking about and they said no dont worry about it? this sound normal or am I going to have to explain it tomorrow? I want to make sure I explain it correctly so they dont blow me off

I would ask tomorrow what exactly they’re doing. I’m sure they know the Tacoma’s are notorious for their shifting but better make sure they’re on the same page!

Honestly its a spur of the moment thing. I told them hesitation off the line and sometimes when cold. Adviser then goes so we are gonna have to wait when its cold then. I go no man its just does it all the time haha

I took my 2018 in for the 5000 mile service today. I stated the truck hunted between gears and had poor throttle response. They applied TSB 58-18. I asked the tech about 62-18 and he confirmed it’s the same ECU calibration to fix all complaints of surging, stumble and throttle lag.
The update is 100% an improvement. The truck shifts smoother, holds the appropriate gear longer, has no dead spot in the pedal and has a much greater throttle response.
Side note, I may be crazy but it also seemed to sound different. The motor doesn’t sound quite so much like a diesel any longer.

Well aren't you all lucky. Had an appointment for 58/62 and came out with 77-16.. Argued with the service guy long enough this morning that I couldn't do it again after finding this out. I'll have fun with his Toyota "report card".
But 77-16 is better than stock so there is that.

For those that want to know, my 2018 left TJ on 07-23-2018, did not have the 62-18 update and did have the stumble/confusion issue. This was C/W the day after delivery. The Dealership should not and CAN NOT refuse this update if your date/VIN is listed...and the condition does not have to be verified by the Dealership's Mechanic. Call Toyota if they are giving you the run around.

Same thing it showed on my ticket. I called the next morning and asked about the newest TSB 58/62 and told them they gave me a TSB that was over 1.5 years old. They checked and then said the tech actually did the newest one because the computer will not let you do an older version if a newer on exist. The older one is just what the Service Adviser typed on the ticket. So either they lied to me or it's true about the system only letting the newest flash be applied. I can definitely tell a difference in how the truck shifts now.

One hour in and out, including a wash, no questions asked or any hassle about diagnostic charges, or not being able to replicate the issue. I consider myself fortunate that I found a service manager that does what I ask and never has given me anything less than perfect service. I think finding a good service department is like finding a good butcher that knows how to trim, tie and French cut a nice slab of rib roast. They are both a little hard to find, but when you do you stick with them.

Just had this done earlier today at my 15k service. Advised Service Rep about issues with shifting and hesitation and this is what I got back on the receipt. Honestly, I don't know if I feel that much of a difference? Maybe slightly? But I floored it on a straightaway and there was definitely still some hesitation, so idk. Reading this, did they apply the TSB's in the order that they're listed?? Wouldn't 62-18 be the last once, since it was the most recent??

Just got my truck back with the TSB 58-18 update. First impressions are very good.

Don't have to move the pedal as much to get it to drop a gear for a bit more power.

Didn't shift around as much at highway speeds. Slight inclines didn't make it drop a gear or so, while still maintaining speed. With inclines that did require a gear drop, it would actually shift back to the higher gear as it topped the hill and began leveling off.

    No stumbling, misfire feelings.

Also, (based on a very short 9 mile trip that I make regularly) trip mileage went from 18.5 (typical) to 20.6.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the mileage compares with more data/time. Am feeling better about the purchase, as far as the tranny issues go.

mine doesn't have a sticker either. if you read the TSB it states that is where the technician is supposed to check for "approved" modifications before completing the reprogram if I am not mistaken and I am reading it right myself.

I just had the TSB 0062-18 update done today and I am impressed. The truck feels more responsive and definitely shifted way smoother than before.
