Spartan Super Sat. morning at 830 then out to dinner with some friends Saturday night. Sunday probably going to buy a new suit (or two) and other dress shirts, exciting I know. But figured I'd take advantage a little of tax free weekend on that type of stuff.

    Morning peoplefaces. Happy Friday! :D

They come in handy for a LOT of shit.
    Pushing back and stacking snowbanks:

Building brush piles and clearing ground:

    Handling firewood transport:

Even just trimming up those limbs that are too tall to hit from the ground:

Plus moving large rocks without killing yourself, topsoil, loam, cordwood, etc. You can use them to load/unload large heavy things from a truck bed, grade a driveway, etc.

Headed up to BSP tomorrow with a group. Going to hike the mountain (during the day) and watch the Perseid Shower (that night) if we've got clear skies.

Going to Pittsburg to help a few buddies build stuff for their camps. One buddy has a foundation that was just finished and he needs to get it capped and possibly some walls stood up, another has a garage that he wants my help getting the doors hung. Probably will be a lot of drinking at night.

    Well I'm jealous.

If you end up with clear sky's, this weekend is the meteor shower.

    Thanks for the heads up.

We are going to look to check out for more Free camp sites. We think we found one right on the lake, now to hope no one gets there first.

That mountain is the best place in the world. I haven't been in two years--maybe this fall I'll go up.

For sure. This time we're just doing an up-down, Abol/Abol. Usually we try to go up one trail and down another and then hike back to the campsite on the access roads, but with such a large group with so many different fitness levels we're trying to keep the mileage down this time.

Half day tomorrow but I think I'll be nice to my dad and go cut their lawn since they've been up in ME for vacation and don't get back till Sunday & the lawn needed it last Sunday
Saturday I was hoping to get in on the Newbie run through ENH but, looks like I'll be stuck on the waiting list
So technically Saturday & Sunday are open but, a lot to do. I need to paint emblems & get Cubby Caps taped & packed; but, I want to go MTBing, go wheeling, & wash/detail both cars since they've been neglected since last year.
Too many things not enough time :annoyed:

Morning all. Least Myrtle Beach area at 0345 yesterday. Arrived home finally at 1140. Granted I did take a slight detour though Shenandoah national Park (~4 hours added). .. kids were good. Thank God for kids edition Kindles. Damn things literally lasted all day.

Even if you just drive through quick it's worth it imo. Place is gorgeous, not to mention all the camping, hiking etc possibilities there. I'll do a full overland write-up soon.

    Good morning everyone,

You are absolutely right. They come in handy for everything. I can’t imagine not having my little loader.

Plus the small ones can fit pretty much anywhere.

I very much liked my Kubota, but I've been pretty impressed with this New Holland so far. Lots of power for what it is, and it starts a LOT better in cold weather than my Kubota ever did.

I usually do the knife edge loop in one way or another. One time I went down Cathedral and I will never do that again. Really tough descent. Last time I went up Cathedral, down Helon Taylor and I think that was my favorite way. The climb up Cathedral is a lot of fun, and there was no 3 mile walk through the woods once you get to the bottom. The Chimney was more daunting that way, though, which is why I think they don't advise it. That drop and climb are the only times hiking where I really get nervous, but I think it's justified.

Here's the ridge from last time I went up. It was later in the year--fortunately no snow and ice left on the edge itself by the time we got to the top of Baxter.

I want one so bad! Even something the size of a John Deere 1023 would be enough for me.

Ya, the older Kubotas are hard starting in the cold. Mine pops right over in sub-zero no problem. Even my G1800 garden tractor fires up nice in the cold.

Yeah, I've done knife's edge but I have a thing about heights so I don't make a habit of it. Usually go up Helon Taylor and down Abol, because when we do the mountain we usually stay at Roaring Brook. That way we can do the slide on the river after a hike.

Yep. During the summer, no problem. Just pull the decompression lever, get it spinning, and drop the lever back. Fired right up. During the winter? Above zero degrees you were usually all right if you glowed the hell out of it. Below zero, forget it. Even running a 50/50 kero/diesel blend in the winter it had a hard time starting in really cold weather without a block heater. This New Holland is great; glow it until the light goes out and it starts first crank, even when it's below zero.
