I say 30% HP at the flywheel and $6900, similar to the 2nd gen minus the price increase.

Almost all of Magnuson’s supercharger kits are carb legal.

Also Magnuson has worked with Toyota on this supercharger, so I am sure all the people paranoid about it will feel a lot safer about that. We will see what the press release brings tomorrow.

    None as of yet
magnusun made all the TRD super chargers so they are very familiar with CARB requirements and their other super chargers for other vehicles are CARB legal. So keep your hopes up, if anything CA emissions testing could have been why its taking so long.

I would prefer a turbo charger.. The engine needs the ponies on the top end IMO or highway speeds..

Low end grunt is where I feel the 3.5 lacking, would love some torque from a s/c

I feel the opposite. This motor is pretty nice around 4k rpm.

I supercharged my first gen taco. SO MUCH FUN! Loved the extra power. Took me less than an hour to install and fired right up with no check engine lights or anything. I'd choose that over the motor swap. Maybe ill put this mod at the back of the list :anonymous:

    Mostly stuff I built.
Glad y’all are wanting to improve the 3.5l but if I am going to spend that kind of coin it will be put towards an engine swap. Preferably an in-line 4 or 6 cylinder diesel like a ISB 3.9-4.5l Cummins or a 4.2l 1HD-FTE. Little more cash into an engine swap but for me I believe it would be better suited than a SC.
