Thanks for the reply, good to know! I didn’t mean to sound like I was bashing Ira Danvers, I’ve had all good experiences with them. I saw in another thread where someone had issues, but it looks like it was a former Ira in RI.

Stupid question but I’m sure it has to come in with a clean frame (no skids or sliders)? I’m away a lot for work and it’s missed several winters, plus I always wash the undercarriage before I go. I’m starting to see some areas but with my luck it’ll pass just long enough to be out of the window before it gets bad. Oh well, gotta get it checked anyways.

No worries, i hope they arent weld on sliders  but skids are okay to a point, ive taken down aftermarket skids for oil changes before so. I would imagine if you sent in a truck with full 3/16 plate armor underneath they wouldnt be very happy hahah. No harm in asking an advisor though, if you get a spray the skids will have to come off anyways so might as well before any appointments. If the sliders are welded you can either get them cut off the frame and you will need them refabbed back on by a welder, or just buy some new sliders :bananadead:

Nope, bolt on sliders so no issue there. And yes, full 3/16 steel hahaha. No big deal to take off, sliders will take the longest but worth it hopefully. I hope there’s either no issue at all or something is found that warrants a new frame. I really don’t want it to rot out two years from now instead of 2 years ago because I’ve kept the salt out as best I could and it hasn’t seen as many winters as it’s birthday suggests (‘09) from me being away a lot.

You can call and ask if they will do the extra bolting on and stuff during the swap but they might not touch it with them not really my call there. But i feel ya on the salt, i wheel my truck till the frame is 100% swamp caked mud as undercoating, then after winter i scrub the frame and shoot water into almost every inch of it as well as wire brushing rust spots and painting over them. In the 3 years since its got its frame done it only rusts up at the welds after winter time so i must be doing something right. This time before winter im doing an auto tranny flush and a good fluid film coating so i will be all set for winter. Now to see if the fluid film works better than swamp mud. Let me know how the appointment turns out! Post up a pic of your truck so i see it coming :)

I’ll be at work until the end of September, but I’ll toss up a current pic then. How long is the turnaround for a replacement at Ira Danvers? Just curious.

Turn around including waiting for it to actually get in the shop and get done or just how long the replacement takes?

Both times would be good if you know. Id have to try to make it work between hitches away for work. I'll probably call Monday (we'll be in port) to set up an inspection.

I was told the full turn around really cant be determined because every vehicle can have different issues here and there. But i have seen tacos go in and out in about a week or so. They do a pretty quick job.

Can you find out how much you guys charge to do the tranny flush? Also do the skids need to be removed to do it?

Full tranny flush including 13-14 qts full fluid removal? I only ask because lots of dealership say a tranny flush is the drain and refill of like 5qts which seems stupid to me. Ive been meaning to do mine also, we just got a brand new flush machine that simplifies the job, hook it up to the AT fluid hoses and it will pump in almost exactly the same amount that came out. I havent seen this done on a taco yet, but pretty sure our AT hose connectors are behind the front bumper cover/grill so the best approach may be to go from underneath. I would imagine taking the tranny skid off would be wise as you gotta remove the drain and the check plug to make sure the fluids correct and most skids only have a hole cut in them for a drain plug. I will ask them for you Rob on friday as today is my day off and tomorrow im going for my MA sticker license. :)

Yes the full flush. I've gotten some prices and if they are doing a full flush at the prices I have got it would be cheaper to have that done by them than it is for me to do it myself

Skids shouldn’t have to be removed. Trans lines go into the radiator or cooler right next to the battery.
For our 12 qt machine it’s about $360. Sometimes there’s coupon pricing too which would bring it down.

 That's more than double what I've been been being quoted. Most dealerships have been telling me about $170 to have it done

You should probably go there then! Because i guarantee ours will be similiar to what he just quoted once labor time is factored in.

I’ll have to double check that tomorrow, just going on what our service parts guide says but it’s been known to be off. Make sure the quote you are getting is for Toyota WS fluid and not some cheap bulk fluid. I know some dealers use cheap fluids to incease their profits.

Well if you consider that one bottle of WS ATF from the internet is like 10 bucks and you need atleast 12 of them, thats 120 dollars right there. Wouldnt think a job like that would only be like 50 bucks labor. Maybe they did price him afro-market bulk fluid, or they miss understood and thats the price for the 4-5 qt "flush"

As a follow-up to my original post, I received a call to bring my truck in last Thursday. I received a call this week to discuss some items outside of warranty that I may want to consider replacing while it was apart. I went in to see the truck as well and I was pretty happy with how things were going, the state that the truck was in and how it was being treated during the process. I'll post up some pics when I get it back and report back after I drive it. The work was done at DCH Milford. I also received some intel on the tech doing the work and it sounds like this is the type of guy you want working on your rig. So far, so good. Hopefully I'm not speaking too soon but they have treated me well.
