As with any car there can be problems including Toyota's. My Taco had the have the Air Pump and valves replaced at less than 35K miles. $1,800 but was on Toyota's dime. It's now at 45K and 7 years and only cost me a battery. :D

This is the 4th new Mercedes I've bought in the past 20 years. My wife usually trades every 3-4 years and only drives 7-8K a year.
She had a couple Lexus's thrown in during that time also. She never let one get out from under the factory warranty. And being honest in that 20 years she / we never had to have anything repaired under warranty on any of them.
This car has 4 year/50,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty so I got 4 years before any worries if she still has the car.

We did do a little research before we bought it. So no blind buy here..
Motor Trend SUV of the year 2017
JD Power had it rated 9/10.
Consumer Reports has it rated well above average.

Then why are you worried about a coating?

Just slap a sealer on it and be done with it. She doesn’t drive so much it will need to be washed excessively. So less swirl accumulation.

I agree with you on not shelling out the cost for a vehicle she’ll trade in, in a couple years.

Youve got the arsenal for good handwashes.

If she was going to keep the vehicle I’d probably go ceramic. But a garage queen should be OK.

I wouldn’t fool with have a pro do it if not keeping longer. Go with either sealant or consumer ceramic.

You must work with some shitty lawyers who buy them out of warranty. Personally I’ll never buy a Mercedes because of the iPad dash looking dash and crappy interior.

The whole notion of luxury cars being piles of shit is plastered by Toyota owners who know a friend of a friend who got something fixed out of warranty. I type this as my Tacoma is sitting at the dealer for warranty work.... lol

They kept the cars past warranty... not that they bought them out of warranty.

    Luxury cars are maintinence hell.
Mostly because they are made with high performance parts which means two things:
    1. Those parts wear out much faster
    2. The parts cost substantially more

Mercedes and Audi are luxury brands known to have low reliability and premium resolution costs.

I almost bought an Audi last year. I’m glad I didn’t. Any luxury vehicles for me will come after my home is paid for and my future kids are out of the house.
Thats the only time I could fathom being able to keep up with the financial demands of a nice vehicle.

Shit my Tacoma is enough of a money pit trying to keep it in show truck shape lol. Thats all asthetics and no mechanical issues.

Kids are grown, but I do owe on my house and that one car payment. No other bills beside utilities, insurance etc. 401K is maxed out but I may not live 12 more years til I'm 65 to spend any of it. So I'm gonna spend some of my hard earnings on my 2nd weakness. Nice rides....
The wife won't let me chase my 1st weakness anymore. She threatened to cut something off. :censored:

I'm really liking the Jet Seal. Several guys here have recommended it. Chatted with Chemical Guys. They recommended SS6 (Second Skin 6) for 2 year protection and Jet Seal for 1 year protection if I liked redoing it once a year.

Haha I’m married to my first weakness so no need to worry about that.

I’m young so I got a while to go to cover my bases for the nice car, which for me means a diesel truck.

Unfortunately the first weekness gets a boat as soon as I’m allowed to get a diesel. You wanna talk about money pits...

I agree on the ipad thingy...It could use improving. But I sure wouldn't call their later interiors crappy. Have you looked inside a newer one lately?

Yeah I looked at a 2018 C43 and 2018 E43. The E43 was wayyyy nicer than the C class, but still needed some improvement. Was looking at them for my BMW X5 replacement before it got totaled. I am a BMW guy.

I did the modded diesel thing for a few months, and realized i didnt want to pay 20k when the block grenades from 45PSI of boost, or the trans let go. I am selling my taco for a new 17+ F250. Boat base is already covered though

Spends $70K on an SUV......balks at $1-1.5K for legitimate lasting paint protection. LOL

Hope no one was hurt in the X5 total.
I agree the E Class is nice. I like the way the info screen is built into the dash. BMW's are nice but the steering's a little to twitchy for my liking.

I think I've narrowed it down to 2 choices.
    Jet Seal
    CQuartz

Here's a little dirt on the 63's. No Michelin's here though. Pirelli PZero's
For all you turbo guys. Check out the turbo's mounted between the cylinder heads instead of the intake.
