Hey guys looking for some insight.

    2016 TRD Sport DCSB.

mostly highway use. I do load my bed (atv / lumber/ building supplies etc.... not a lot of offloading some fire roads, hunting trails etc... going with 265's wildpeaks live in NNJ so snow and ice definitely come into play for me

    looking at OME 887 springs
    HS progressive 3 leaf AAL.

Insight on struts / shocks OME or Bilstein 5100 set at 0.....
    necessity of upper control arms?

    looking for onroad driving characteristics...

I have the 5100's, OME 888's and went with Dakar HD leaf springs. I do some offroading (forest roads) and tow a boat, plus load the bed down when doing home projects. I have the LR UCA's and the ECGS bushing, just haven't installed them yet. Still have stock rubber on and FN FX Pro wheels. It feels overall a little tighter for the suspension, but I really like it. When I hook my boat up my rear end doesn't drop over 2" anymore.

The only thing that I feel like is stiffer, is my rear end (but that's probably due to the leaf packs installed).

Here is what HS Offroad told me about the shocks:

The Bilstein shocks have a monotube design which is different from the OME twin tube gas filled design. With the feel of the shocks I would say the twin tube gas filled might provide a better on road ride over the 5100, specifically the OME soft ride front shocks (90021) in which the compression on those is quite forgiving. The OME feature a larger shaft over the 5100’s which I guess you can say makes them more durable, even though I have never had a customer return a 5100 with a bent shaft. Now the exterior on the OME shocks, this is why I’m personally not too fond of them. The powder coat on them is not so good, nothing like the powder coat on the coils which is great. With it not being so good it tends to chip off real easy and rust. Those that have OME suspension will usually complain about this. The 5100’s on the other hand are zinc coated and so they hold up better to the elements. For me personally I like the 5100 better over the OMEs because of the coating and I prefer the internal design over the dated twin tube design.

Now for the rear, do you need brake lines….

With the OME rear shocks no. The extended length of the shocks does not constitute the need for longer lines, OME did this on purpose.

With the Bilstein kit yes. If getting the kit on our site with the OME Dakar leaf packs this kit comes with the extended rear 5100. The extended length of these shocks will require longer lines and so we include them in the kit

Did you ever install the LR UCAs? How's the alignment without them?

I wish that I had paired my OME 888s with Bilstein 5100s. My 888s sagged really bad and I’m only sitting at 1” of lift on the drivers side with the trim packer installed.

As noted above, the paint chipped off of my OME shocks and are now rusty at only 1 year old.

I just picked up my 2019 TRD SPORT 4x4 Double cab

I have Fox 2.5 inch coil overs with reservoirs and tuff country uca up front and 2.5 Fox shocks with reservoirs out back with 1.25 inch block for slight rack. Did 4Runner TRD PRO wheels and 285/70/17 tires BF KO2. I have some rubbing I need to fix in front on some plastic but should be no big deal

not yet. still sitting in the box on my shelf. Keep saying I am going to. But working on selling house and building a new one now.

Haven't had any issues with my alignment (didn't get one done after either). My tires seem to be wearing evenly, no pulling or pushing, steering wheel is straight.
