Question. When I went for the TSB I unplugged my SSP. It seems to be shifting about the same now with it unplugged. I plugged it back in and I'm just using Drive. I still like seeing exactly what gear your in when in Sport with the SSP. I'm gonna try it both ways just to make sure it takes. I'll drive it around for at least a couple weeks to make sure it's learning . Any Techs out there what do think .

At our last meeting at fiesta island blazing blue Tacoma had his carista app with him so I set it to 4 blinks and also disabled the seat belt chime. You are right though with techstream having the other options.

Would reprogram be the same as updating? And yeah, I'll give them a call after work today.

Got this done today, and it's a night and day difference. Doesn't shift as much which I didn't even realize was a problem. Seems to have the power it came with available all the time now. I would highly recommend everyone do it. All I did was go in there and say there's a stumble and read about a software update. Give them the TSB number and let them do their thing. They didn't even bother testing it they just updated the computer and gave it back. I was done in about 30 min.

Is it performing better ? Not sure why it doesn't say specifics on your invoice.

It seems like it is, definitely has a lot more smooth shifts.

Stock suspension, stock wheels, stock bumper, stock, stock, stock, dammit!
So I had the chance to drive a longer distance today and I have two observations.

The learning reset is hard to define because of the update. I really can't say how anything has changed because this truck didn't have a normal transition since I got it until the update. It will take time for me to understand what that reset means.

Post update, omg, what a huge difference! I am not afraid to get in the passing lane! The truck shifts like it should and no more lag, ie, full pauses before it wakes up and kicks into gear! This transition feels normal!

I do have a question. I am very curious about whether this update has affected mpg. It felt like the truck was burning more gass struggling, but now I can be my lead footed self, so did it burn more fuel pre or post update? Should I start another thread about this?

Ones that are monitoring mpg say it has had no affect on it.

This statement tells me that it could just as easily be that the ecu was reset (unlearned from your habits) as it is the new flash itself.

An ECU flash always “unlearns” it. That’s how OVTune worked in the beginning. You’d have to reflash it every so often to get it to act right.

Supposedly putting it in s6 ignores what it's learned.

I've had my truck for about 2 months now. I just got my 3rd survey from Toyota to describe these kinds of issues.

I prefer that something is being done, as opposed to the nothing I got with the issues on my 2017 Silverado that I ended up lemoning.
