Can someone describe the “stumble” for me. I go in on Saturday and I mentioned that I want this new TSB installed as well. Just in case they ask me about my truck and what it’s doing, I want to have this down. I also feel like my truck has this but I want to make sure it’s the same “stumble”

**Update I received the update at my dealership who had serviced my Tundra 4x4 for years without any hassle when I asked. They looked up my VIN on my Tacoma 2018 OR and confirmed it could be applied. What I explained was it would hunt for gears and felt under powered, during my last road trip which saw many hills I would lose significant momentum on hills despite pressing the gas pedal down hard to compensate...when my AC was on it would just exasperate the matter. Overall I said it stumbles when hunting for gears to save MPG.

In the end they applied T-SB-0062-18 or EG1811 and noted because 'They had too' "There is a stumble during wide open throttle when customer was in the mountains over last weekend"

It has improved holding higher RPM's down low and feels much smoother, I will know more on my trip to Maine next weekend for a real test. I unlike others here noticed an improvment in MPG. Overall I love the truck and this is just a small blip in my ownership. My 2 cents, why would you place a engine in any truck you to REV to squeeze power and equally why is the torque not higher than the horsepower?!

I think Ford's new 2019 Ranger with the only engine offering the 2.3L Ecoboost four banger better have some serious torque down LOW like around 1,800-2,500RPM or that's gonna fall flat....just more of my two cents.

Just talked to the shop manager at my local Toyota dealer. He confirmed that both TSBs are the same. If you apply one and then the other it will just overwrite which ever one you applied first. He said to just tell the advisor that I was in the mountains and felt hesitation under WOT. There shouldn’t be an issue getting it done (we will see). Appointment set for this Friday. 2018 December 2017 build SR5 with the surge at speed, clunk when stopping, delayed downshifting getting on freeway when turning, and slight hesitation at times. I’ll let you all know how it feels after 62-18 is applied.

Edit: I don’t expect it to fix all of the above things. But I am hoping it may help with some of them!

My fully laden 2.7L V6 ecoboost F150 work truck has tonnes of low-end torque. Truck will push you right back into your seat even when full of contractor tools and fitted with a high rise canopy. Positively roars in comparison the the much larger 3.5L in the much smaller and lighter Tacoma I also drive.

The era when displacement mattered most is completely over. That’s old thinking. It’s all about the tune, or in Ford’s case, the turbos. The new ranger is going to chooch just fine. It may still be a POS in other ways, but it’s not going to be held back by the small engine.

I myself LOVE Turbo's and had a GLI & GTI with the 2.0 that had 200lb-ft down at 1,800RPM and we could beat STI's off the line all day (because they need to spool up at high RPM) and then we would run out of air after several hundred feet HA! The GLI was slower than my Subaru Legacy GT, though the GLI 'felt' faster. If the 2019 Ranger is only tuned to say 250lb-ft at around 4000RPM I'm not impressed. I'm sure the F150 2.7L V6 is great with these stats, not sure which is correct with your engine; torque is at 375 or 400lb-ft @ 2750 rpm a nice PUNCH there! As much as I love Turbo's there is NOTHING LIKE A V8 if I had a choice as there are less inherent seal issues and the like you get with Turbo's.

I just got mine done yesterday... and its a completely different truck. I lost about .6mpg on average but the truck accelerates smoothly and holds gears on climbs. I live in CO. Schedule this if you still haven't.

I do question the long term reliability with the 2.7L Twin Turbo, but it’s not my personal vehicle, so won’t be my problem when it grenades. However, it’s an impressive driving experience. It’s a stretch to say the same about my Tacoma. Does make one wonder what Toyota did with that extra displacement. I wonder what a 3.5L turbo Tacoma would be like?

I agree & definitely would like to see Turbo or otherwise in the Tacoma down the road with some serious torque!

Just clicked around in Techstream, not knowing really what I am doing, but found the engine calibration ID matched what is on TSB 58/62. Maybe I got lucky like you?

**EDIT** looks like TSB 77-16 would have loaded a different Calibration ID. Happy dance for fix. Truck really does feel different.

I had the update and overall the shifting does seem better, however, I now notice that it seems to get hung up when I'm moderately accelerating and hit 1500 rpms. Seems like it gets stuck there and I have to increase pressure on the gas which then causes a bit of a surge/sling shot feeling once it "breaks free". Anyone else experience this?

I don't know about surge slingshot but 1500 rpms while I am already moving is a problem.

Maybe I didn't feel like I didn't get as much out of this because I never go WOT.

Dropped mine off this morning at the dealer for its 20k service. Handed them the TSB, and they added it to the work order; no questions asked, no conditional statements. My service tech wasn't even aware of it and that I was the first person to bring one in for the T-SB-0062-18 update. Will report back once I pick it up this afternoon.

    None... sigh
Had mine done this morning, I'll see how it feels driving home from work. Not a long enough trip from the dealership to the office to tell a difference.

None, finally back in a Taco
I am also interested in this, but can’t define the terminology “stumbling.” My odo reads less than 1k on a truck built May of this year. Please enlighten me if this will (should) fix the following symptom:

When climbing moderate hills at highway speed (65-75mph) the trans shifts to 4th and recovers to 5th upon peak (in cruise control). I am forced to bump accelerate to force the RPM to jump subsequently forcing the trans to resume 6th gear operation.

I live in southern VA, so elevation will be a hard sell. Thanks!
