Hey guys, I have been a member here for a while and post all the time, but I have never started my own thread. So help a brotha out. Lol!

Have any my fellow manual transmission owners had any clicking sound or feel when letting the last 10-20% of the clutch out? It only does this when in 1st or reverse and it is not consistent by any means.

I don’t have the squeaky clutch issue at all. It is just a kind of clicking feel and very low sound that happens intermittently.

I am taking it in Weds of next week to have them check it out. I was going to go today, but I would rather just wait with it than do the whole loaner etc. since my dealer is like an hour away.

I love my manual no matter what, and I wouldn’t trade for a manual even if I had no legs at all, but this is something that I feel isn’t normal.

The reason I say this... 1) because it just recently started. 2) I have owned a manual Twco before and have not experienced this issue.

Thanks in advance for you insight.

Check your Clutch pedal free play. Should be 5-15mm of clearance between the pushrod and the pedal.

Never the engagement. Just feels strange. Like a clicky poppy feel. Only as you let it out almost all the way.

Free play is minimal. Just as you finish letting it out is when you feel it.

I had a 2017 2.7 5 speed and my clutch pedal creaked like crazy at only 7,000 miles. Traded it for a 6 speed manual recently and no creaking as of yet

I never had an issue until about 1,000 miles ago. It’s annoying really. Doesn’t affect the shifting just annoying.

Could be your cruise control switch making noise.

You may be right, but I don’t know why I would feel the roughness in the clutch though. That’s what I’m bothered by you can barely hear it but also faintly feel it too. It obvious when you drive it, but not super loud though.

I had this... I used a sticky grease to lubricate the plastic bushing that the clutch pedal spring rides on pretty much got rid of it for me. That and theres one other bushing in there somewhere you want to lube, its also plastic. I used some Polyurethane bushing Superlube grease, thats about the stickiest grease I could think of, and applied it sparingly using a glove. S*** is nasty, really hard to wash off of anything but it also stays in there for a really long time because of that. It should really help or eliminate the problem

I hear you. It annoyed the hell out of me. I can remember it started around 4 or 5k miles on mine. My father had an 09 Tacoma 5 speed and his did the same Thing. He mentioned it at a service appointment once and it was fixed. Can’t remember what exactly the fix was

Mine does it too. Currently at 9000 miles.
Does it more when the floor vents are on heat.
The clutch pedal assembly looks like a sh!tty part. Idk why its not steel like the brake.

Thanks for the help guys. It kind of feels like it could be spring related. It’s hard to explain the clicking thing but it really does feel like it could be something like that.

If the jackwagons at Toyota can’t recreate it or figure it out, I will definitely get her all lubed up. Lol.

OP, i just Took my 18 MT in for service and mentioned to them that my clutch pedal had a bit of a creaky feel/ sound to it. Sounds somewhat similar to you. Anyway, they said there are “updated parts for the clutch pedal assembly and reservoir”. I have an 18 so they must be very new updates. They swapped it out and the truck feels/drives great. Better than when it was new. I have No idea what is updated if anything at all ,but whatever they did fixed my issues.

All of my Toyota pickups had a click. Was coming from the pivot point at the pedal linkage. I just got used to putting a dab of grease there every 3 or 4 months. No more click

Yeah I am gonna let the Toyota guys at least check it out. If they tell me that they can’t figure it out, I definitely plan on trying the greasing option. Hopefully they at least say they can hear/feel it. I know it’s definitely not normal for my truck. I’m at 23k and it just recently started. Had a 2nd gen manual before and it never had this issue. Other than this it drives great so should be an easy fix.
