Rear shocks question

I'm planning to install spindles in my prerunner. Right now I have a 1" block in the rear and probably I will add a 1.5 AAL for a total of 2.5 lift. (Temporally) My question is; for how long can I use the stock rear shocks if never go off-road?

 

Its one of those things where you may never have an issue or it may use the shock as a limiter one time and the shock starts leaking. They sell shock extensions for like 10$ for the stud side and like 40$ for the lower side. The lower side looks beefier.

Dont forget your brake lines will be short when the rear droops. They may a spacer for that as well

 

I have a 1 inch block in the rear at the moment, but I have in mind to add a 1.5 aal or replace the 1" block for tapered 2" in the mean time. Money is kind of tight right now and I never go off-road, so honestly I don't need anything to fancy. I thought that the rear brake lines should be fine up to 3". Is that right? I just need 2" in the rear to level the truck with the new (Not yet installed) 4" Maxtrac spindles.

 

I could be wrong, but i think at 2" the brake line or rear shocks will be what limits down travel and not the leaf springs. If you leave the shocks as is, worse case is the shock gets damaged, at which point you could replaced it with a longer shock. I personally wouldnt risk it when it comes to the brake line. You never know what you might run into on road that may cause the rear to fully droop and potentially tear the rear brake line.

I have heard of people using a spacer like this https://www.lowes.com/pd/Hillman-5-8-in-x-7-8-in-Plain-Steel-Standard-SAE-Flat-Washer/3012326 and a longer bolt take some tension of the line.

You could always test it by letting the rear suspension fully droop and see what limits the down travel.

 

You’ll be fine, you haven’t increased the droop of your rear leafs all you’re doing is stealing uptravel to gain lift. Your brake lines will fine as well.
