Duratrac vs KO2

I have owned K02 and not duratrac’s. The k02’s are awesome tires but if you don’t drive a lot like me they could be a waste of money as the last set I had started to dry rot before I was anywhere close to wearing them out. I have a take home car for work so the truck sits in the garage a lot

 

In SoCal I’d run KO2’s... in Oregon I run duratracs for the snow and ice. Both are great tread tho, can’t go wrong.

 

best all round tire is definitely not the K02. They are terrible in the rain.

 

I have duratracs and I like them. Pretty good on the street. Great in the snow.

 

I had Duratracs on my Ram, they were ok tires but I went with the KO2s when I got my Taco and I find they are much better tires.
Also the trucks we use at work had Duratracs on them and they perfomed like crap and were constantly blown or flat, and the tread life was junk as well.

I found the Duratracs didn’t grip as well in the winter or wet vs the KO2s.
I’ve got almost 25000km on the KO2s and I am super satisfied with them.

 

I used Duratracs in Russia before moving to US. Used it hard on local sport games in mud and snow(win last challenge), they are ready for mud a little bit and very strong on snow and ice(just compare the pictures). For me BFG KO2 is a regular AT, but Duratrac is AT-MT. I would prefer Duratrac. But in my reality now I'm thinking about General grabber X3.

 

I’ve run Duratracs for their snow capability. Also it seems I can always find good deals on them at Discount tire. Just scooped up the 265/75s for $575 total.

 

I don’t think the Duratrac has a three ply sidewall either? Correct me if I’m wrong...

 

The sidewall on the duratrac is pretty thin compared to ko2

 

Best all around is a bit vague.

How you actually use the truck is what matters.

 

I don't do any "serious" wheeling, but DuraTracs have served me well on the street/trail and are good in the winter. They are definitely louder than the stock OR tires (expected), and as others have noted they get louder as they wear. No experience with KO2s.

 

I have had both, in both new England winters, and Texas beaches....

For going faster in questionable roads(fire service, caliche, etc), the KO2 is heavier, and I haven't blown one out yet....

Otherwise, the DuraTracs, tend to get noisy and wear funny/cup.....

I'm SERIOUSLY considering the Falken ATW3 this time around... as with this truck, I'm currently not seeing a need for an E range tire.

I agree, the KO2s handle dodgy driving at higher speeds way better than the Duratracs.
3ft of sloppy snow on a highway at 2am, going 80kph was no problem with the KO2s.

My next set will be 265s so I can get a C range instead of the E range..

 

For every positive review of a tire I read a negative one. Coopers, Falkens, BFG, Goodyear’s, etc.

I went duratrac for my ray 10’s. I hope they serve me well.

 

Duratrac has thin sidewalls and wear out much faster than KO2. They are more of a snow tire.

 

I had no major complaints with the DuraTrac. I'm kinda even considering them again, as they can be had in a load range C.

Really wish the KO2 could be had in a Load range E(116). That extra 10lbs per tire DOES add up.

I can't really add to the KO2 talk. But my duratracs work great. Work really well on trails. No chunking.

I have 265/75r16 in C load and they flatten right out at 15lbs. They grip great.

 

Stock height? Truck looks great.
