Find a buddy with a tacoma and borrow a coil. Test, clear cels, and see if that solves it.

Yup, I’d do what Jesse said, find someone and clear the cels then test it with a good coil pack.

Any idea if the 4.0 fj uses the same coil packs? I have one of those sitting in my driveway..

Whenever i looked up the part # on camelback toyota, it shows the same # as the tacoma. Maybe it was superseded with the newer number? The fj is an 07 and was made in japan. May try swapping it anyways and see what happens

I dont gamble much but I'd try that. Probably same spark plugs too.

An 07 fj should be fine. Same engine.

Okay theres some weird shit going on..

Swapped the fj coil in, same p0353 code.

Swapped back to the tacoma coil, but this time moved the passenger rear to the front and the front to the rear. Now its throwing multiple codes. P0300 (multiple misfires), p0305 (cyl 5 misfire), p0306 (cyl 6 misfire), and p0356 (Ignition Coil F Primary/Secondary Circuit Malfunction, which i believe is relating to the coil pack on the rear driver side under the blower).

Im starting to think i may have a UCon issue with the board itself..

    Maybe. That doesn't make sense.

Keep track of where you are moving your coil packs. It could be a wiring harness issue because you are manipulating the harness with each change.
Try pulling the negative terminal off battery for 5 mins to reset the ecu and icon to allow them to resync.

Should i just leave them where they are right now, reset the ecu, and see what it does?

Sure. Then if it throws codes try moving the wiring harness around without disconnecting the leads from the packs. You are doing good, wr just need to keep isolating the prob.

Is it running like doo doo or running fine?

Reset the ecu, throwing even more codes now, all misfires:D

Tried moving around the wiring w/o disconnecting the coils, same thing happened

If you have the TRD tune and 455s than take the ucon out, clear codes, and see if they pop again

Running a nonflashed stock ecu w/ucon. Have heard of problems running ucon with a trd flashed ecu though..

That issue did come up about what 3 years ago? Scott is pretty sharp though and I bet he figured that out by now. Wouldn’t hurt to ask. I couldn’t imagine running the ucon without a ecu back up to keep it honest

Ive talked with gadget about this and he said it does better with a nonflashed ecu.. i was originally going to get the trd reflash, but dealers in my area werent willing to do it, so thats why i went with the ucon..

Kinda confused.. are you saying it would be better to run the ucon with a trd reflashed ecu so that if there was ever an issue, youd have a backup plan per say?
