We had a fire with a report of a person trapped a couple of years ago and our guys busted their asses trying to find the Vic to no avail. When the fire was knocked down, the windows broken out and rooms ventilated this is the conditions found. We couldn't understand what all the obstacles were until we got some lights in and saw what we were up against. Some of the rooms were completely blocked with magazines and partially filled paint cans. You had to climb on your hands and knees up into some rooms, and roll down the pile on the other side.We had to retire about six sets of bunker gear that was destroyed with paint to the tune of about $9000.

As was said before,a sad case of mental illness gone untreated that unfortunately cost someone their life.:(

no doubt it was a woman...there's a heeled shoe on the floor in one shot, but the most telling evidence is the pile of used maxi-pads on the bathroom counter.

i wonder when the toilet stopped working too. what's with the bucket and cleaning products?

shit and piss in the bucket, dump in the tub, and rinse it all out?

    BLARGH!

the cigs by the computer is just insane. literally insane. also love how she put out cigs on the couch.

all that pizza and whataburger would say that she's fat, but the area of bed she had cleared off to sleep looked relatively small.

Its never the clean ones that burn!!! Hmmm.... Maybe there's something to how you keep your house and the chance of having a fire. Its places like this I want to show people when they say firefighters are overpaid or don't earn our money. As said before there are many people living this way everywhere. Stay safe S314

Another thing that I'm struck by sometimes is when we get into some places that it's obvious the people don't have a pot to piss in, yet they take pride what they have.....I've been in some real shitholes, but the place is clean, the Children are cared for,and the people are trying.

    Take care as well Clesdah.

Excellent point, we have a unique view of society with access at their most vulnerable times. No time to hide how they live when they call. Its interesting, captivating, and often horrifying part of the job. A small part of the greatest way to earn a living.

Yeah ive seen stuff like this before. Me and my cousin used to clean out houses that were being sold or foreclosed. Anyway we didnt know there was a name for people who lived like this. The first time we saw this was a house full of egg crates, the paper coffe holders (like from Dunkins or McDs) bags of garbage, old car dealership emblems cardboard just shit everywhere, not as bad as those pics tho. we filled 2! 34 yard roll off dumpsters. we think its impossible to even get close to that point but some people have a serious problem, like you guys said if a fire breaks out....
