Duratrac vs KO2

2" lift. The right tires are about a good higher so it's deceiving.

Now I can see the lift. I am having the same tires installed as we speak with no lift. Hope I don't rub to much!

FWIW, I had Duratracs on my old Jeep. They were unstoppable in Cascade Cement Snow. Seemed to do fine in the rain, wear rate seemed average, but as the wore down, they got extremely noisy. I don't remember how many ply the sidewall was, but the tire store told me they would ride hard because they were made for a heavier vehicle than mine was. They had the mountain symbol on them, so I could use them up in the passes in winter without getting nabbed for no chains.

 

I've had KO2s. Nice tire, quiet, looks nice. I never noticed anything I didnt like but after reading a ton of reviews that Duratracs work better in the snow, I'm going to switch.

 

Has anybody tried the new Bridgestone Revo 3s? They look promising.

I would go with KO2s although I’m trying Falkens for my next set.

 

Do the Duratracs really have weak sidewalks causing more flats, or is that a myth?

I have KO2s 265/75/16 in load range e right now. Really like them, but they are heavy.

Considering Duratracs in that size in load range c for my next set of tires, unless they really do get flats easy.

 

I ran 33x12.5 duratracs for about 30K in all conditions with zero flats.

 

Our work trucks were contstantly getting flats with the Duratracs.
Granted they got rode pretty hard, allot of off-road (often in the black of grass fires), some of the worst gravel and dirt roads, and some highway as well.
Seemed like some of the times the flats would happen at the slightest thing though.

 

The Revo 3s are so new I can’t find any reviews. Also, I don’t know if they are MS rated. They look good though...

 

if you look up the specs on most SL AT's they all have 2 ply sidewalls. Some manufacturers try to find marketing ways to claim they are stronger but who knows.

I'd love to see an independent tire test actually testing puncture at equal PSI of the sidewalls.

 

A lot of tire manufactures share or make each others tires. The AT Revo3 was told to me that it was made by Toyo. Toyo and Bridgestone does have a stake in each other.

 

I always like the KO2 personally though

That would be fine with me. I had Toyos on a jeep and on a 3500 Diesel Ram. They were great tires although VERY heavy. If Toyo made the Open Country AT2 in the XTreme thread pattern in the size I wanted...265/75/16....I would buy them. Unfortunately they don’t.

 

I’ve had both, both do well.
Duratracs seem to last longer and have good street manners. I wasn’t overly impressed offroad.
KO’s seem to perform better offroad, didn’t last as long. Louder on pavement then duratracs.

 

Thanks for the feedback. I’m leaning towards the C rated Duratrac or the new REVO 3.
