Truck bed misaligned

The truck bed on my '03 Dbl Cab sits closer to the passenger side than the drivers side by about an inch.
I've read that you can loosen the bolts that secure the bed to the frame and move to adjust. I can't locate a diagram of which bolts to loosen and was hoping someone could help in that department.

You cannot find the bolts that attach the bed to the frame of the truck? Have you gotten under and looked? Reason I ask is because it is very obvious once you get under and look. Loosen the couple of bolts and shift your bed. I would be a little worried though, an inch is quite a bit. Has the truck been hit?

...and no, truck has never been involved in an accident. I purchased new. Seems like over time, the bed has shifted closer to the passenger side cab.

 

The nuts welded onto the frame to bolt down the be on mine were stripped. I had to add my own nut and longer bolt. Might be worth checking when you attack this problem. Good luck.

 

Maybe your bed is fine and your cab has shifted. Look at the body mounts and see if any on that side are worn/falling apart. If you shift your bed to compensate, then you are only fixing a symptom, not the problem. Like fixing 'taco lean' with a spacer on the coil spring. I haven't experience it myself, but from what I've read, it's usually body mounts that cause it...

I apologize for using an older post, but I'd rather do this than start a new one of the same exact topic.

I'm dealing with this on my 2017 Sport DCSB, the bed was shifted to the driver side and very noticeable. At my 20k maintenance appointment, I had the dealership fix this. They gave be a loaner car overnight. I opted for them to fix it since the truck is still under warranty but of course it's still not perfect after they had my truck for over 24 hours (should've expected this). The bed is still about 1/2" to the driver side; meanwhile I went to look at other trucks on the lot, most of them perfectly centered, some of them also shifted a little bit. Did some research with my service guy and all of the Tacomas they've done this bed adjustment for have come from the Baja, CA factory.

Anyway, the main reason I am posting on here is because I want to now try this myself because I don't feel like having the dealership try again is going to do any good. Is it just the 6 bolts in the bed itself that need to be loosened and then the bed can freely shift? Or are there other bolts that must be loosened underneath? Also would you guys say this is a 1-man or 2-man job? Thank you.

 

Don't know about newer trucks but on the first gens its 3 bolts per side, loosen them and you should be able to shift it around with a bit of elbow grease. If you wanna take the bed off however, that's at least a 2 person job.

 

Thanks @goldentaco03 it appears to be the same 6 bolts, just like my 2nd gen was, assuming also just like yours.

 

I think the only difference is on the newer tacos the bolts go through the floor of the bed into weld nuts on the frame. First gens you have to crawl around underneath to unbolt it.

 

I cut mine in half. Fixed it.

 

Tyler, I did this by loosening the six bolts, but you aren't able to move the bed that much. For me, it did not make the noticeable difference I was looking for.

Replacing the cab mounts are on my short list (Tacoma Honey Do list). I'm just waiting for cooler weather.

Haha yeah I mentioned above this is my 2017 DCSB.

 

One side does look aligned, not sure why the other isn't.

 

Finished installing an add a leaf in my leaf springs today, and replaced the wore out bushings with the Energy Suspension polyurethane bushings. Since I did the add a leaf, Low Range recommended the OME longer shackle U-bolts. Much beefier than the OEM ones.
To my pleasant surprise, the gap between the cab and bed is a little better than before. Before, the cab/bed gap was close on the passenger side, and wider on the drivers side.
Just wanted to pass this along.
