    I'm not either, don't you only need a license for over a certain power? I'm sure it's helpful anyway just to teach you how to use the things

    I wanna get just a little handheld ham for starters, buddies of mine have had them camping and they're pretty great for like $25. Everything you would need for wheeling trips with buddies at least

    It's insane the range you can get with them with just some fairly simple antennas. Saw a YouTube vid on it and was pretty blown away what a guy could do with a light folding antenna he could take backpacking

    His fold up antenna was on a rope so you could sling it up in a tree to get enough range to get on a repeater. Theoretically world wide at that point
