Whats wrong with the cb @BartMaster1234 has? I think ive seen a few guys on here with it

 

That's my plan, right now I'm not licensed for a ham yet. And still reading on how I want to set it up.

I'm not either, don't you only need a license for over a certain power? I'm sure it's helpful anyway just to teach you how to use the things

I wanna get just a little handheld ham for starters, buddies of mine have had them camping and they're pretty great for like $25. Everything you would need for wheeling trips with buddies at least

 

Next weekend is going to be fun got a bunch of mods coming in. I'm going to see if my brother wants to help me out with them.

 

Yea, for the ham I'm looking for something more range lol

 

It's insane the range you can get with them with just some fairly simple antennas. Saw a YouTube vid on it and was pretty blown away what a guy could do with a light folding antenna he could take backpacking

 

Yea, if you can get in range of a repeater it's insane.

 

His fold up antenna was on a rope so you could sling it up in a tree to get enough range to get on a repeater. Theoretically world wide at that point

I've been wanting to get a Ham but can't decide between the regular mobile or the handheld units. I like the Kenwood's though.

 

I was thinking about ham in the truck and cb as well then have a cb handheld for groups

 

$18 airport breakfast burrito ruined with sour cream and guacomole....everything that is wrong with CA is wrapped up in this disappointment.
