Had mine professionally welded at mtech. They make some of the finest custom stainless exhaust systems I have ever seen in Vancouver. Not many of these shops around in our neck of the woods these days. I trust their work and it's guaranteed. No worries here however good advice if you are attempting to do this on your own

The buzzing noise and droning is driving me nuts - also the weather was nice this weekend so i drove a bit with the windows down and it sounded embarassing. Argh. I checked the connections and there was some visible leak before the muffler, i undid the connection to clean and check it, and guess what i find. Welding wire inside the muffler! Thanks @Magnaflow !! Embarassing. Used my channel locks to tear all this out:

Thought this would kill the buzzing but no bueno. Will do the resonator soon.

    https://www.urdusa.com/urd-mark-2-y-pipe-tacoma-2016-v6/

    with this

    https://www.urdusa.com/urd-cat-back-tacoma-2016-v6-double-cab-long-bed/

the first one is the spec-u which is what we are all talking about. the 2nd one connects to all existing piping if required. 1st replaces the full system. 1st sounds nicer. both drone. i'm looking at building a hemholtz resonator to kill the drone.

1st one on the list. Thats what I have, you wanna get rid of the secondary cats. You will also want a resonator which is an additional cost, unless you like drone

Seems like a pile of money to throw at a system that requires so much modification. Have read through a couple threads about wrong parts sent and different figment issues. Be nice when paying this kind of money if everything was in the kit when you got it. Now majority of people want to add a resonator to it... damn. If its that bad they should offer a street and race version.

looks like he listed to everyone and added the hanger to the driver side, everything fit right on, no 02 sensor problems, had to cut 2" off before the muffler tho

sounds good loud but not too loud

I can’t even hear it when I’m cursing at 1900 rpm, once I go over is when it gets loud and has a deep rumble at 1300 rpm when coasting

Update - got my Vibrant Resonator (ultra quiet 3" model) installed on thursday. The exhaust now sounds and works like i expected it to when i bought it from URD. Sound is great, the buzz is gone, sounds smoother, drone is gone, but the great sound is there. It's still louder than stock, but sounds much more pleasant to the ears and i'm now happy with it. It cost me $120 for the resonator, $80 to install. Thanks for the tips @Yzkiley and others.

I honestly don't know how anyone can drive with this thing without the resonator, it was literally 6 months of horrible embarrassing noises coming out of the exhaust. All good now.

@Gadget@URD PLEASE, PLEASE, install a resonator for any future customers. It honestly sounds awful without it, and fantastic with it.

I'll see what i can do tonight from my Iphone. I've got a gopro as well, but don't know how well the exhaust would sound from it. EDIT - vid didn't come out good, need someone to hold the phone.

I just went from full stock exhaust to the URD Y-pipe w/ stock muffler and noticed the same thing. The common element between the Y-pipe and the Spec-U is the removal of the rear cats. A much more hollow raspy sound. My wife heard it and said "no". I'll look into that resonator.
