What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Drove all the way to discount tire to have the new meats mounted and they said they won’t do it since they can’t hand turn at least 7 threads on the front wheels. Now I have to drive home and remove the wheels then take my dad’s truck with the new tires and old ones back there to have them mounted and balanced then all the way back home to get them put on. Anyone have a link to longer front wheel studs so I can avoid this in the future?

 

use the rear studs. I believe they are a bit longer. or, lexus Is300 studs

 

Thanks. I think it’s funny they will take the lug nut off enough to know but won’t do the work and will reinstall the lug nut that they just said wasn’t safe

Does anyone’s else skids plates pop and creek? Mine make a ton of noise and I’m not sure why. I’m assuming the frame has some flex in it that causes some binding?

 

Depends on how much the truck has been flexing. Might wanna take a look at all the weld spots on the frame.

right. I called Les Schwab this morning and they wont touch my OEM spindle that I have as a replacement but they will charge me up the ass for a new one?? wtf. I kinda understand but still, its stupid

The main hole for my snorkle was a bit nervy.

 

I get to weld the floor of the cage in. Fun times. I wish I never sold my swap cooler when I got this house. Would of been nice for the garage.

 

Old KO2s in 265/70-16 needed replacing. They were awesome but I was thinking of trying a MT tire but the KM3s were not available before I needed to replace the KO2s so stayed with them but moved up to 285/75-16.




For some reason I seemed to think that my OME lift would support 33's and thought I was being safe getting 32.83" tires but no... pretty severe rubbing at full lock and even minor bumps. Finally got around to cutting some plastic off the wheel well liners, cut a bit of metal too and pounded down the pinch welds then neatened up the cuts and sprayed it black to alleviate rust.




95% better but still a few places to fine tune (lower corner of windshield washer tank cover mainly).

 

Nice touch with the snorkel inlet. Very cool

 

Take your time cutting. I just did mine but lost it and let’s say I’m going to do it again

 

Anybody got a brick & mortor autoparts led compatible flasher relay( Napa/ AutoZone/O'Reilly's etc)? That they're happy with?
Been dealing with on & off hyper flash when I press on the brake pedal and sometimes when I'm just using the blinker...
I'd like to see if the relay is the issue before I dig deeper.
