These will also work on a plug-in Prius.

Any reason why you want it to be a EV? or Leaf? I say that, because depending on your wants/needs for it, there are some other great alternatives. My lady had a first generation Prius (2001 I think) and we drove the piss out of it. had about 200k miles when we sold it for a profit. That thing ran like a champ and handled everything just fine. I think we only paid like $2,500 bucks for it too. She has a 2015 Civic now and although its not a hybrid or EV, it still gets 32-35 mpg which is great for most people like me. Just can't hop in the carpool lane anymore like we could with the Prius. They are also fairly cheap in the used car scene and aren't as advanced (technology-wise) compared to something else like maybe a hybrid or EV.

I’ve played with the idea but only because there are free plug in stations here at work. It’d be nice not to have to pay for “fuel”.

Current commute is anywhere from 120-150 miles round trip. Current commuter is a Mazda 3 hatchback averaging 30-32 mpg.

Trip to the gas station every 2.5-3 days. Given that it's only an average of 10 gallons per fill up, it adds up. Spent $400-ish on Gas last month, $375 the month before.

Thinking EV because I have solar at home and work allows me to plug in. Thought about hybrid as well but already in the same price range as EVs so I started looking into it.

Exactly. Current gas expenses amounts to another car payment on its own.

Oh Jesus. 120-150 a day? Yeah a EV might be your best friend then. Especially if you already have the means of solar and such at home. Might not be a bad idea. I have no idea about EV's, but I can say, prius hybrids are legit. Even the second generations are really good, and pretty cheap.

Went from 3rd Gen Taco to 3GT4R to 2nd Gen Taco and finally a V8 4GT4R.
I also used to commute 120+ miles round trip. Pittsburg to a little south of SFO every day takes a toll on quality of life. Plus I was using an Xterra so gas was burning a hole in my pocket not to mention Fastrak. Glad to work on the other side of the bridge so I won't have to pay for the shitty toll hike coming up over the next few years.

You people are/were crazy! I'm at 25 miles one way, but at 80mph for most of that, I'm looking at under 30 minutes.

I'm 19 miles one way but it still takes about 40 minutes to 1 hour to get there.

I was looking at the Honda clarity EV, it's range is weak (80~100 miles) but supposably charges really fast. Advertised as 80% in 30min. And when I was looking it was super cheap to lease.
