There's mostly truth in what you say here. I know we strive to communicate well, but logistically it can be extremely difficult. We are small, but we still have 100's of customers on the books. Any delay usually effects all of them. As much as I'd love to pick up the phone and call all 50 ppl who's sliders are delayed by 2 weeks, the amount of time that takes is enormous. Really, platforms like this are the best way to inform the masses of updates.

Not sure I agree with this. It wouldn't take you much time at all to write one single email and Bcc all of your customers in the queue. Good communication doesn't dictate a single platform. A phone call would be better, sure. But an email is so much better than silence. Many times customers just want reassurance you haven't forgot about them.

Since @Mobtown Offroad is in this thread: I ordered a set of sliders right when their PC guy started having issues. Took quite a bit longer than quoted, but I am quite pleased with what I got in the end. Stuff happens, capacity gets overrun, suppliers have their own issues. The difference like you pointed out is the communication that came with the delays.

Sucks having to wait, but sometimes the best things in life (or trucks) take a bit of waiting.

I didn’t bash. I made a joke. If anything I defended the other vendor.

I had a similar experience with a front bumper from a different company this winter.

Now i'm in the same boat with a fancy camper shell that i ordered and paid in full for back in March. We've been moving our summer vacation plans back all summer and this week found out we likely won't get it until October (if they're able to hit that date).

    It's definitely frustrating!

Interesting insight, I was wondering about the availability of materials and how that could affect the process.

Yea, it's not obvious how much goes into fulfilling orders. There are countless vendors and suppliers that all need to deliver in order for us to get an order out on time. Even tangential to the actual product, delays or shortages in things like shipping boxes, wood for pallets, shipping labels, hardware (bolt/nuts, etc) can be enough to hold up delivery. Inventory on these items is based on typical replenishing schedules. Some vendors/suppliers need more time, so we hold more inventory of those items to avoid running out. Issues arise when a vendor has an atypical situation with fulfilling our PO. That rolls down to delays for our customers.

Example, our bed storage doors are typically in stock. They are simple products which is why this is a fun example. We have 6 vendors/suppliers for that product. Six! At one point we were extremely behind on delivering those. We had the doors, powdered coated, ready to go with all the necessary nuts and gasket material. We had locks and boxes on the shelf. We had enough to ship 25 pairs. More doors were at powder coating and all other pieces were to be arriving soon for 100 more pairs. Everything was looking good. For whatever reason, we had a small spike in sales. We had 50 pairs on order. As Murphy's Law dictates, we get an email telling us that the manufacturer of the locks is experiencing a shortage and the distributor doesn't know when they will be in stock again. In the 3 years of selling the storage doors, we had never had an issues with the supply chain for locks. This was quite unexpected. We called around and find a few more locks but we were still roughly 100 locks short. It took approximately 4 weeks to get additional locks. To say customers were unhappy is probably an understatement. We lost a few orders. The point is, even with simple products that should be easy to stamp out and stick in a box, the supply chain can easily cause issues. As a small company, it's hard to had redundancy in your supply chain. We deal with issues as they come and plan for issues that become a problem. But this sort of thing happens often to one degree or another. Whether it's fluctuations in sales that mess up our forecasting for inventory or supply chain issues, anything can happy to throw off determining lead times. I have countless stories at this point as I'm sure all the vendors on this forum do.

Hey, thanks for posting this, as I plan on ordering from them too and had no idea it was such a long wait, frustrating when it's a large chunk of cash. Are you happy with what you got?

Hey, So i finally got the bumpers about 2 weeks ago. Right before they posted the stuff about them basically going under. Pretty ironic. Anyways, does anyone have swingout with the hi-lift mount? My Smittybilt hi-lift doesn't line up with the mounts they put on the swingout. Common occurrence? Just me?

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
You most likely need a Hi-lift jack. Hi-lift is a brand not a type of jack. You have a shittybuilt farm jack and it most likliy doesn't have the same hole pattern and the Hi-lift.
