2nd Gen Ultimate LED Dome and Map lights

My wife loves it. even with the dark window in the back when she unlocks the door and the light comes on it illuminates the whole interior so if anybody is in there she will know. Really it's a safety feature besides being able to see things and to top it off it looks better and blends it. My advice is patent that turkey so Toyota or anyone else doesn't copy it. Looking forward to getting the map lights and actually being able to see something when in use. Wife wants one for he Mini as it has dark tinted windows.

 

Got mine installed earlier this week, and just got around to getting some video of them at night.

Just like everyone has said, super easy install, looks and works great.

 

Thanks to griffin407c is was able to get a set of the MESO white maps and couldnt be happier with them. The fit and finish are perfect. I have the white MESO dome as well and will probably connect them all together to operate as a combined dome just because, well...because i can. Have i said i like it bright in the cab!? This should be as close to the sun as possible and i need to tan anyway

 

I'll buy 'em if you sell 'em.

I have a set of all white maps for sale actually. Only opened the box to look at them. I bought the dual color at the same time and am using those instead. I can get pics for you tonight. Same price meso sells/ships them for is what they will cost.

 

Waiting for the red/white map to drop again.

I agree with this. Won't be long before someone's claiming you copied them. That happened in the Back-Up Camera Anytime mod.

Dimming LEDs is not like dimming a regular incandescent bulb. I am not certain that the dimmer in the vehicle will work as intended if wired to the LEDs

Dimmer works fine for the dash lights that are LED.

 

My guess is there is nothing "unique" to patent here.

Swapping regular incandescent bulbs or lower wattage LED bulbs for higher output LED bulbs is obvious and not unique. The touch switch is not unique. The combination of touch switch and LEDs is not unique. Doubtful you could get a Utility Patent.

That leaves you with a Design Patent, big deal. Someone will just use a different LED bulb... configure it a little differently. Presto

I have all red map and dome lights from Meso and they are very bright! Really nice mod to do to your Taco!

 

might work, might fry the dimmer instead, the dash leds are all low power leds.

 

The only part I could patent(potentially) is that it’s not just a led, but a complete lens replacement with integrated lights. AFAIK nothing like this has been made. Sure there a a million “LED” bulb swaps, but they still utilize the original clear lens. I’m not out to patent it though. If China really wants to copy something, they will do it. People will know who the innovators are, and who are the duplicators

Last time someone carbon copied one of Meso’s designs they got raked over the coals in the 3rd gen section.

Of course, TW users like to pick and choose who they defend.
