A few pics from a recent fish trip to the McCloud River in Northern California. Getting up early to make the hike in and snag a fishing permit paid off as we were able to get a couple of the daily issued walk-on permits that allowed us to fish the McCloud Nature Conservancy stretch (that area is almost always booked-full due to the limit of 10 anglers on the water at any given time). The place is beautiful and well worth the drive and hike even if you don't fish the gin-clear water for those easily spooked McCloud trout!

New to the thread, got my first jack on fly last week down in SWFL. 9 hour drive in the taco from ATL and caught on my new 8wt Recon / Hydros setup. Love going after the warmwater stuff in GA, bream and bass on the smaller stick 4wt. Maybe stripers somedayDSP_5238.jpg

    Hey Guys,

Not sure how I missed this thread. I live in Western MA and fish the Swift often but travel the NE area and try to fish a bunch. I'm typically fishing with my buddy Zach. Few of the bigger fish from recent trips here.

Nice fish up in Magalloway, ME

Big 5ish pound fish out of the swift.

    And the monster.......

The state came through to study the Swift river and found a 17 pound fish in the river. Massive considering the small size of the river.

Anyways I will check in periodically. I spend time throwing a 3, 5 or 8 weight all summer and winter!

Went to explore some rivers this morning. On the way back I stopped at the Berkshire National Fish Hatchery.
Very cool place. Got a private tour from one of the "fishguys".
They have two pools there filled with brookies. Think he said about over 2000 total.
And about 10 covered pools filled with lake trout that they breed and then send fish out to regenerate. Was really cool. They have LT there as old as 5-6 years old.
    Was a great visit.

Sooooo much rain lately. Fished yesterday evening. The creek is about 6” higher than normal still - which put it about mid shin where I first get in...you could see the water line on the bank where it had been over my head at one point last weekend.

    So this happened today.

Don't ever go to "just test cast" something you've been thinking about. It will follow you home.

I guess I know where I will be around 06:30 tomorrow morning.

What’s with this bowling alley wax? I have not heard of that before. Details?

I’m digging that brook!! That brown is just huge, plain and simple.

    Nice pics.
