First time commuting this far. Spoiled all my life ... 10-20 mile commute.

Me and the wife commute together so we still have that “together” time. Hopefully not for too long .. plan is to find work around Sac area and move somewhere close

I meet my wife at work. As soon as we moved in together I had to find a new job. 24/7 with one person is to much for me. I like my alone time. I have always been kinda of a loner. One of the reasons I love to fish, she dosnt. Its my time to get away. not everyone is like me, But it works for us, time apart doing things we enjoy keep us happy. Nothing wrong with those that do everything together as a couple, its just not for me. I commuted for a few yrs and hated the time lost sitting in traffic. Made me depressed. kinda the same thing as working graveyard or 60+ hrs a week. No time for relaxing and doing the things we love, did that for many yrs. paid the bills, but lost a lot of good yrs of my younger life. missed some important yrs of my sons growing up , and almost got divorced. Find what works for you, dont be afraid to make a change if shits not going good. Money isn't everything.

No spare tire. But there is a junkyard one from a older Nissan that will work. And watch speed bumps.

Shok Industries 2/0 big 4 upgrade and sound deadener.
The beauty is that you don't have to work on it, and also the downside if you are a mod addict like 90% of us. There's a (very small) aftermarket that is basically body kits and lowering suspension kits. I've fought the same battle myself re: mods but when my fiance's Focus dies it's getting replaced by a Tesla in large part because of safety ratings. With literally no experience in any other EV other than Lyft rides, if you're looking for a fun BEV Tesla takes the cake unless you want to get the Jag.

Also, glad to not drive the Bay Bridge every morning commute gang because literally fuck. that.

There's a few places in sac looking to train chassis techs. Starts at 24 a hr. But it's hot, dirty work. Busting big rig tires with tire bars. Tops out at 30 a hour. But you learn diesel engines.

Life's to short to waste in a job you hate.
Think about it, half your day/life is at work.
If it sucks, it will drag you down. If your not having fun at work, keep looking. We spend more time at work then we do with loved ones and doing the things we love.

Yup, after 8 years at my current job I’m making the switch. I hate sitting at a desk all day and can’t see myself doing it the rest of my life. Switching to firefighting as soon as I can get a job.
