what resonator and what exactly is your whole exhaust setup if you don't mind?

 

Vibrant 3" ultra quiet resonator. Picture won't show up because I primed the exhaust and painted it flat black

 

i'm curious because i recently installed the Y-pipe, removed rear cats, and did a re-route, kept the TRD muffler. all is great except the V6 buzz above 3k rpm. so i'm looking to kill the buzz above 3k, just that. how does that Vibrant do with any buzziness or higher pitch stuff above 3k?

 

It sounds great now. I am so much happier I had it welded in before the muffler. The drone at 2500 rpm was ruining my commutes. No issues at any rpm now

 

I too have the URD mk2 y-pipe and the BORLA Cat-back set-up. I really don’t get any droning sounds but after 3000rpm and up the system is a bit loud for my liking.

By chance do you have part number to the resonator and where in the exhaust system did you have it welded into...just a visual picture would be greatly appreciated as I know you sprayed your exhaust system black. Thank you.

 

Just go to page 21 and look at the last post, same spot I got the idea from him actually.

 

I was thinking about putting it on the Y-pipe side before the cat-back section. I've got some rubbing going on occasionally there so I have to touch it anyway.

 

I see a couple of folks are saying they installed the Mark 2 Y pipe and removed the rear cats. On the URD website, it seems to suggest that the Y pipe just bolts to the stock manifolds. Does the Y pipe eliminate the rear cats too? I thought only the Spec U removed the rear cats.

 

Yes, rear cats get removed for both the spec u and mark 2 y pipe.

a 3" resonator is correct? on urd it list the pipe as 2.75 inch

 

Yep 3".

 

i did install the Vibrant Ultra Quiet 3" after the Y pipe. the sound from this system now is incredible up to 3k or so. 3k and more than half throttle and I'm not super happy with the sound. I'm now going to add a couple more inline tube resonators from Vibrant where the rear cats were. that'll keep the flow improvement and further kill the fart can at WOT. I'll report back. gotta say tho, the flow i have is nuts with this Spintech muffler. it did more for the exhaust than all the other parts combined.

 

took a 500 mile round trip from long island up to lake George, with all the hills and constant down shifting i got tired of the exhaust real quick! thinking of doing the resonator now

Does anyone think it’s a good idea to get the V band welded in while I’m at it?

 

Please don’t imagine if you got pulled into an inspection. Removing the exhaust would be a massive headache then. Or if you want to sell it later.

I kept my OEM exhaust for those reasons.

 

Nah, no inspections here. I do have my stock exhaust though.
