Got my lift parts in

Finally got my lift parts in. Bought from HeadStrong Off-Road. They had super fast shipping. Even though I placed my order after the closed last Friday, everything shipped out Monday. Got the rear AAL Thursday and the rest of the kit on Friday.

Bilstein 5100 front and rear, HeadStrong 2" coils, Icon 3 leaf progressive AAL for the rear.

Unfortunately, my mechanic has been in Hawaii all week and won't get back until Tuesday. But, I'm going to Dallas Tuesday for a training class so I won't be back until late Friday the 17th. So it may be the week after before I get everything put on. (Or it may be even later than that because of some "gotta be done yesterday" work projects that I have to make happen.)

Is there anything else that I need to pick up to take to my mechanic for this install? Everything should be here, right?

Should I be worried about the paint chipping off the AAL brackets?

 

UCAs if you plan to go full height on those.

As for paint chips, its not on the truck yet so it couldn't hurt to hit it with another coat just to put off any chance of rust.

 

Full height? you mean raising the springs to the higher adjustment levels on the 5100s?

I'm planning to keep them where they are at, which should be just about 2" total lift with the springs set at the zero level.

I was worried about the possibility of rust or corrosion on the leaf spring brackets. I'll hit 'em with some rattle can before they go on.

 

To get the full 3" lift is what I mean. I have mine set to 2-2.5" (Second from bottom with TRD Sport Coils) If I wanted the full, I'd need UCA upgrades.

 

Make sure your cam bolts on your Lca’s are not seized for alignment afterwards. If they are they may have to be cut out an you’d have to get new ones an possibly new lcas or bushings.

 

Truth. This is what I am going through right now. Not sure if I am going to try to remove and replace the cam bolts or just buy new LCAs and cam bolts. It's a daily driver so I can't really have it sit if it doesn't pan out.

I've heard conflicting information. On the Bilstein 5100s, you can go up to the top ring with the stock coils, without needing any other parts. I have mine set to the 3rd ring (the 1.75") with the stock TRD Sport coils, and had no problems with alignment. I'm planning on going up to the top ring, the 2.5" setting soon. When I was shopping around, I emailed Josh from Wheeler's, and through discussion with him, and other research, it seems that you only need UCA upgrades if you go above 2.5-3".

That's the whole point of the adjustable Bilsteins 5100s: to lift a small amount, without needing to upgrade a bunch of other parts.

OP is using OME coils though. I'm sure if he adjusted it higher than the bottom setting, that would put him above the 2.5" of lift, which would most likely need a UCA upgrade.

 

I saw someone else try this (5100s with stock coils and ucas) and their UCAs were touching their coils.

I'm also running on the second from bottom or 3rd ring with stock trd sport coils and stock ucas. Let me know if you go to the top and it actually works.

 

I'm sure mine won't rub the UCA, I have 1.25" spacers all around. So I'm not the best person to ask about that... lol.
