I got Toyato to replace the bad headlights I got from them. Guess I’ll have to wait to see if these bulbs burn where the turn signal bulbs go 3D8CAF21-F2DC-4C75-98B4-B84A4E7514E2.jpg

Nice. That seems to be a comming problem? I've seen a number of earlier 2nd gens around here with that issue.

Yeah from what I was told they had a recall but I was told that I missed the recall so i paid like 325.00 each and they did the same thing that I replaced them for. I complained and they said they sold me the old ones. I had a guy hit the front bumper so when they replaced the bumper they replaced the headlights for me too

The way you tell if you got the revised headlights with the glass lens, is to look for the 1" square diffuser in the turn signal lens. If you have the 1" square difusser, you have the old plastic lenses. If you do not have it, you have the revised headlights with glass lenses. Here is the thread that discusses the differences and lists part numbers.

They replaced mine for free a few years back because of the melting dtrls. They have been good so far.

I always tell Tacoma owners at the gas station with burned DRL’s about this extended warranty.

I had mine replaced with the new glass dtrls.
That's been fine but the outer top of the lens clear coat is already fading even with using CG Jetseal.
    I think around 3-4 years

My headlights are burnt and cracked with the same issue, so I bought some Tacoma Beast headlight assemblies. I haven’t replaced them yet but you saying there is an extended warranty due to this issue?

Mine were melting to the point of burning out the bulbs, charred sockets and everything, so I went to the dealership and told them about the tsb and eventual recall I was aware of, they said the recall was only for a limited time, tough shit. I complained and went up the corporate ladder a bit with phone calls complaining, cause I think thats bullshit, this could potentially be a safety hazard, electrical components burning and melting parts of the truck. They still said too bad so sad your only option is to replace the entire headlight assembly, $900+. I said yeah right and just went in and cut the wire to the DTRL's, following instructions on a thread here, worked great! No more pesky running lights melting my lenses causing problems. $0.

Did you get a recall notice and disregard it? I bought my 2009 back in 2011 but never got a recall for mine. I wonder if they would honor the recall for that very reason?

No I didn't buy mine til 2015, never got anything in the mail, I came across the recall in researching the issue. Still though, the notion of a recall that's only for a limited time seems ridiculous to me.

I replaced mine with ones that they said was the new ones from Toyota. They sold me the old ones and that’s why they gave me the new ones. Nothing to do with the recall

Yes I totally agree. Especially since most are based from some sort of safety concern. I’ve heard of this issue before but didn’t know exactly what years it affected. I’ll have to take a closer look at mine to see if they are either failing or have been replaced before I bought it.

It’s classified as an extended warranty...not a recall. A recall would force them to swap every headlight assembly in every Tacoma sold within those years even if they showed zero signs of damage. The extended warranty only requires them replace the headlights with damage.
