And sealed the hatch flap a little better last week. The original gasket does not go down far enough in my opinion. Daylight was visible through the crack. Used left over tailgate seal and silicone.

so what does that do? allow you to "lock" the latches from the inside? and then pull them out to open the panel from the inside?

Those are just "locks" from the inside. They jam the lock preventing it from being opened from the outside. You would need to connect to the actual push button and pull from the inside to open them from inside. Ideally you would want a string connected to pull the button from the inside and then just dangle these to jam it from the inside.

I ordered my GFC yesterday. They have their new website up. Looks good. I was wondering how the side doors drain rain water when they are open during a rain storm? does it drain into the bed of the truck or outside? For those that have one already.

    Nice paper towel holder too.

With just pillows, the cargo net stays completely out of the way of the window. No blockage at all.

No window so I can cram tons of junk into the net. I have other stuff tied or bungeed to the front panel cross braces as its free space for me.

Hey guys I’ve been reading through this thread and may have missed it, but does anyone know the spacing between the roof of the cab and the bottom of the overhang over the cab? I see it’s enough for a shark fin antenna but I don’t have one so I don’t know how big they are.

Trying to see if my warrior products roof rack will be able to stay or if it will be too tall. It’s 3 1/4” off the cab at the rear most point (next to where the shark fin would be)

    Thanks

I had some time over the weekend to take a fine-tooth comb to the new GFC website. Great job @wileydavis and the gang for designing a user-friendly and engaging site. Everything is laid out clearly, including accessories.

The big surprise to me was the move to a non-refundable deposit to hold the build spot. From my perspective, it is a lot easier to cough up $500 instead of $5750 to get the process rolling. This might be the ticket to convincing the wife to pull the trigger on an order (to be delivered in March, or would it be April or May).

    Great move GFC!

I don't have answer for an easy to access front side latch yet. Perhaps some spring loaded latch similar to what is used to lock toneau covers.
It's just a wish and perhaps the brilliant engineers at GFC can come up with a solution.:)
I'm always interested in ways to make the camper a harder target for casual thiefs.

I believe they only display stars for states eligible for white glovers.

I've noticed fairly regularly updates to the leader board since I began checking it. It was encouraging to see more builds start after mine, which makes me feel like mine is progressing.

Also, Elise has gotten lots of love in this thread and I have to echo that. My email exchanges with her have been super efficient and I've been well taken care of.

I'm more concerned with bad men in an urban environment than at trailheads. Like I said, if there are no visible locks on the side panels the casual thief might think that the sides are part of the structure. You then can concentrate on a very secure rear hatch maybe integrated with a smartphone controlled lock. My tailgate is locked/unlocked with the fob. I didn't think about the compression seal system issue. That's an added complication for sure.

Still hoping someone can tell me a measurement from roof of cab to bottom of overhang, or bed rail to bottom of overhang.

    Thanks

Still haven’t found any solid info about that in this thread.

Just coming from areas where theft is common place there isn’t anything you can do if someone wants in. Nothing is that secure. In Flint here you just leave everything unlocked and don’t keep valuables in your car. It’s cheaper than fixing a broken window. My 2 cents is just keep your valuable things elsewhere and don’t worry about the locks. If you’re on the road an NRA sticker is more of a deterrent.

Thanks man. So 1.5” is the magic number. I even tried clicking on your faq link and it just brought me to a random post on page 52

Of course, nothing is completely secure. The point is to not be a soft target so that the thieves will choose another vehicle. If nothing is visible in the cab you're far less likely to have your window broken. If nothing is visible in the camper the thieves will be more likely to go elsewhere instead of taking the time to break in. Would you leave your camper completely unlocked in any urban situation? That's inviting trouble IMO. I don't think that people in the trades leave their trucks unlocked when they're catching lunch in a restaurant or parked on the street while working on a job. Most breakin's are smash and grab or simply opening the door. We're talking probabilities here. I like to keep the odds in my favor. The NRA sticker deterrent effect is a myth.
