Tell them you have family in North Dakota that you frequently visit. So yeah, it applies to you. Don’t let them BS you.

I live in ND, but the elevation here is only 900'. Might have to tell them you go to the mountains instead ;)

Well yeah, but you have to drive through the Rockies to get there from DFW ... I think?

Tsb-0058-18 and 0062-18 both reflash to the same calibration so it doesn’t matter which one the write it up as doing.

I told them I take the truck to Denver all the time and their response was that I need to go to a Denver dealer so they can reproduce the issue and then do the TSB. Okay, sure, I'll drive 900 miles to have my ECU flashed.

That’s BS! I just called my dealer here in Florida and they said that there is a TSB and to bring it in.

Just hitting this thread too as it seems we have some redundant conversations about this but the new update for shifting is worth the time. Both TSB 0062-18 and 0058-18 result in the same programming, so get either of them. Will update after 500 miles but no longer using my SSP and truck feels somewhat like a truck now!!! Not perfect, but a solid step forward in drive feel. My mileage was shitty before the update so don’t expect much of a change, maybe even worse but don’t care if it drives better. All driving so far in town and better in stop and go traffic for sure.

So ... My problem i reported along time ago was on the highway going through mountains.....i would almost red line then drop a gear then repeat constantly struggling for the right gear or to gear down.
If i go in reporting the same persisting issue will this tsb address that?
    Thanks

That sucks. Thanks for the heads up. I purchased from Toyota of Denton and may try there, although Lewisville is closest to me as well.

Tell them you’ll drive to Denver next time you want to purchase a vehicle as well. And that you’ll do your best to make sure all of their other customers do the same.

That’s just total laziness on their part.

I agree it’s laziness but what can you do. I will just try the dealer I bought from which is very inconvenient but they sounded like they would help.

I have a 2015 Charger R/T and had (traded in for the Tacoma) a 2015 Dodge Dart. Both were purchased at an Orlando dealership. There’s a Dodge dealership 7 miles from me and that’s where I took/take them for service. They don’t treat me like crap but they don’t treat me well either. I’ve sat for 3 hours for an oil change on occasion even when I had an appointment. They took cars bought from them first. What a crock.

But in the same vain, when I had 500 miles on my Tacoma and was having brake problems, the Toyota dealership (where I bought it) the first thing they asked was did I buy it there? I said yes and they took it right back and started on it even though cars were ahead of me!

It seems they treat you better at the dealership where you bought it.

I’ve had the same issue driving the hilly highways of Missouri hitting 5k rpm just to maintain 70mph. Mine was updated last week with both TSBs and its still doing the same thing on highways. I think these dumb Atkinson cycle engines just don’t make enough torque to keep from lagging under slight load and nothing short of a turbo would help that.

I had too high of hopes that this new TSB would fix the 4/5/6/5/4/5/6 crap highway shifting, but it didn't. Yes it is a little better than before, but there are still way too many unnecessary downshifts to 4th gear in order to maintain speed. Just drove 350 miles today on the new TSB update. Stock wheels/tires, 900' elevation and flat roads here in ND with 75mph speed limits, so I drive 80.

I waited almost two weeks for this appointment and here are the results via txt message to my cell:

"Could not duplicate customer complaint, vehicle running and driving as intended. No correction at this time." Hey here's an idea Beechmont Toyota, how about a phone call at me to discuss??

I called back and of course I get their voicemail. By the time I pick it up tonight it will be too late to complain, so yeah I'm on the hunt for a dealer that can make it happen.

Just got off the phone with Kathy. Basically stated the same. If they can't duplicate they won't make the change.

Mine only had shifting problems sometimes making it hard to duplicate. That was part of the problem, I never knew when it would drop down a couple gears and just take off unpredictably. The tsb makes it a little more manageable.
