Driving 75 mph down the highway yesterday morning in the fast lane and my driver-side window shatters all over me. I had two witnesses in the truck and found nothing in the truck that could have shattered the window. I have already had to replace the windshield in ths truck as well. The dealership and Toyota are denying and faults with the power window motor or glass but I know for a fact nothing hit my window. Anyone else having glass issues??

Might want to find a lawyer if Toyota is denying anything

Never had glass break but it’s well known how easy it is for blowing sand to pit these windshields. Cound something have hit and bounced off the window like from some jerk with a bb gun hit yours as you were passing by? There was a rash of that by a few delinquents a while back in L.A., they hit many cars passing by them. Call the police about the area you were in, and ask if other drivers passing by there had any issues lately.

Or, it could it have been debris kicked up from a passing vehicle glancing the window as well?

    Doesn’t your “comprehensive” cover glass?

There was a guy whose sunroof shattered a while back and he caught it on camera. Nothing hit it. Not sure who it was or what the resolution was, but it’s happened to others.

What are the dealership and Toyota denying? And what evidence do you have against them? Only asking so that I can have this info if something similar should happen.

You do not know for a fact that nothing hit your window. Side windows are tempered glass. If any road shrapnel had struck your window and then vectored off to the roadside, you would get busted glass. Tempered glass spiders and self-destructs into penetration-friendly cubes with pencil-point impacts. F*ck, let's come here and blame Toyota for sh*t luck. Jesus f*ck'n victims. Yeah, issues, self.

What would a lawyer do? This sounds like it would be an insurance claim, not a warranty claim.

Agreed...this isn't a Toyota problem, warranty, or TSB...most insurance companies have full glass comp coverage, so that's likely the quickest and most painless way to resolve.

For me, if my door glass were to shatter when I was driving on the freeway, my first, second, or even 53rd thought would not be "fucking Toyota, warranty claim!"

My Jeep window has shattered and I’ve had moon roofs blow. Both pressure related.

Unfortunately I see this all the time at the boat dealership.
Customers think a damaged prop from hitting a stump should be warranty or a hole in their hull because they hit a sucker rod should be covered.
People find it hard to differentiate from warranty vs. insurance.

Mods: Is this still a Tacoma?
Unfortunately you have the burden of proof not the dealership which means this would be nearly impossible without a video when it happened, because people who got their side windows shattered due to theft or vandalism would also be taking advantage of the dealerships. Insurance will be the way to go here. Not lawyers or warranty...a lawyer wouldn’t even take this case because there isn’t much to settle for when all is said and done, and it’s not like the dealership will pay your attorney fees if at most they settle to just replace it, they would pull their reatined lawyers to quickly shoot you and your lawyer down, they are more powerful and money isn’t an issue for them. Now of it we’re a safety issue and someone’s life was at risk, say like the runaway priuses of a few years ago, then that’s a different story and then I’d say “lawyer up!”

Some issues have been addressed on Tacomaworld if you looked in the search engine.

One person supposedly replaced their windshield like 3 times. Another person had a sunroof just randomly explode while driving and it was while his camera was filming. It sucks man, but do some research and talk to people specifically that have been in your shoes for the best real time advice.

Sorry man but you could have 27 people looking at that window when it shattered and it still means nothing.

Driving 75mph many things can shatter your window, I’ve had many.

This is not a Tacoma nor a Toyota issue
