I just couldn't have @MOC221_ making fun of my old (B12) ECU flash, so I flashed the new version. I had to run some errands, so I ended
up putting 62.7 miles on the new tune. 60/40 highway/city.

I'll agree with what other have stated. There is much less surging/hesitation in general, which makes for a more relaxing drive. It almost
feels like I know how to drive stick again.

I'm not 100% convinced that it solved the lag in second gear at low RPM, but that may be down to the gearing and lack of power.
That said, I did not find myself in the situation where the truck wouldn't get out of it's own way in second gear during my test drive.
    Time will tell.

I can't wait to see what Mat does with this new code.

Thanks to @Ruggybuggy for letting us know about the update.
Also, thanks to @inksin @bshammer0 and @ToyoVL for their contributions.

Great! Now who has one of these fancy doodads in the socal area? Sounds like we're gonna need a meet, greet, and tune sometime soon! That or wait out to see if there is an official toyota response within the next few weeks.

I now have around 300 miles on the new software. Yes it hold very well on the hill. On some steep grades I never had to downshift at 60mph. Truck just held it while on cruise. Power is very good and I hate to say it but maybe slightly better than the OV's 103 on 87. Second gear buck is gone and I didn't really notice the power surge that was present at 3500rpm.

If OV can't improve on this tune I'll be selling mine.

Won't you lose the linear throttle curve if you get rid of OV Tune?

corrected in 04B13. linear, more than OV. now that he gets this code base we'll likely see gains on top.

I'm picking up a 2018 Pro MT built July 27 next Saturday. It will be interesting to see if they installed this TSB or fixed the problem at San Antonio.

The actual throttle-by-wire pedal response curve was adjusted in 04B13?

    Stock vs OV Tune:

i just said it's linear. i flashed it like 30 minutes ago and I'm out on the first drive after idle. it drives like you imagined or expected it to from the factory now. totally normal. even the OV was rough compared to this. of course he was reverse engineering... definitely an OV fan here and looking forward to the new future.

lol. that was a little misunderstanding. i should have written "i just said it's linear as far as i can tell, because I've only been on it a few minutes." all good no problem.
