Nah that bed is too small to bob now. I'll wait until I need the extra departure angle.

Why cut up a brand new truck? You'll only be able to fit a spare tire and small cooler after bobbing it.

What year was your taco? and did you take exactly 13 inches out? I'm selling off my topper and tonneau cover to pick up a double cab topper and tonneau and want to make damn sure they will fit once i bob mine. I have an 02 ext cab and I want to make sure everything will line up.

Because I can do whatever the fuck I want? [IMG] I drag the rear end over everything on my 2006. That'd be cool to not drag and get hung up. You're truck was new at one time. And now it's all cut up. That's a dumb question. I'll have to cut it up to fit the new tires & LT on it. The '14 should be on tons one day. As the box is now, I might be able to fit a 37" spare and a cooler. Don't worry, I can make it work if it gets bobbed one day. I like to did a good balance between form and function.

Thanks man I’m loving the bobbed bed. Going to help on the rubicon not dragging my ass anymore. I took out a bunch of weight and I can really feel some power come back. 4.10s and 35s aren’t as bad anymore

I like the idea of putting the wrap around the rear to cover it up @mrbeggins mines pretty ugly right now

Took 10 inches out of the bed yesterday. Pretty happy with how it turned out - Still gotta put the bumper back on and do a little bondo work and of course, needs some bigger tires!!IMG_4880.jpg IMG_4882.jpg IMG_4879.jpg

Looks sick. Just swapped my stepside bed to a fleetside and it’s been on for a day and I already want to cut it up.

Reviving an old thread here.... But I REALLY want to do this to my 3rd gen, problem is I haven't welded in 20 years and I know this must cost a ton to pay someone to do. I abuse mine pretty hard and dragging the rear is getting old. I could take a good foot out and everything I have would still fit totally fine, including my rack and tent.

3rd gen Tacoma? Or pickup? 2nd/3rd gen Tacomas have composite beds, so the good news is you don’t have to worry about welding anything.

I wonder if anyone has tried to use a large splice plate and bolted a composite bed together after bobbing it.

Also this is the 1st gen section.
