I can't believe so many people are reluctant to go to the dealer and have the update done. It's free if your under warranty. If they refuse for whatever reason a call to corporate should straight things out.

Thanks for that. I agree. There is plenty of BS, hey it's America, but I've learned much and saved money to boot.

I think the issue is trying to justify that it still applies to us. It would be easy for them to say that it doesn’t apply to manuals. I’m going on Weds. I’ll ask and see.

That seems to be happening in New Mexico, why not eastern Canada?

It's not worth my time. It will be at least 2 hours waiting at the dealership for them to either say no or yes. They most likely won't listen to my reasoning if they say no. I can't think of a worst explanation than me saying "Some guys on a forum said so".

Then calling corporate takes a bunch of time, and I bet that is more headache.

I'd rather do it myself or have someone else do it.

I outlined the best way to get the tsb done with less chance that you would be refused. If you walk in and throw a tsb number at them it's likely the service writer will read it and says it does apply.

Leave the truck for the day. Don't mention you heard this on a forum, they won't like that. Complain of the surge at 40 and it happens very occasionally and ask them to do a health check with the techstream. The techstream will show the update that pertains to your vehicle and have them install it. This is the best way to approach them to have the best chance to get it done.

I definitely agree. So that being said, if you walk in and describe the symptoms and they get on their computers and start looking stuff up, what makes you think they will try to help when WE are going off of a specific pertaining code rather than a TSB that specifically applies to manuals.

I have been on this thread since the very first post and I am very aware of how dealerships work. But... with the potential for confusion without a specific manual TSB yet... I can see them looking at me like I have six heads and not doing anything about it.

My dealership has probably a handful of manual 3rd gems if that, each year come in for service. I don’t expect much from th service advisors honestly. They get paid to weasel out of work.

Your going in and complaining of an occasional issue. The advisors job is not to look stuff up. He generates a work order then passes the info on to the tech. Don't mention and tsb number. Just complain of the stutter at 40 and nothing else. Ask them if they could do the health check and apply any ecu updates that come up.

Forgot to add, the advisors job is actually to find work, not reject it. The dealership gets paid to do these updates.

Sounds good. I’ll give it a shot when I go in for the clutch pedal thing on Weds.

Did this update earlier today - took me all of 10 minutes to do it myself, including finding and installing TS and getting it working (I have a tactrix cable since I’m running OVT). It takes me longer than that to drive to the dealer to waste time there

Appreciate the advice, but that's just far too much trouble with no guaranteed success. Especially if I can just fix it myself.

Sounds like this TSB is a good update over stock tune. Im still going to wait for 1.05 from Matt as he said it will include the TSB.
