There is also the option of replacing your emblems with new blacked out ones, but then there's the additional expense. A small roll of the tape is relatively inexpensive. Since you already have the emblems off you might want to try one to see what I'm talking about. All depends on the desired result and being meticulous in your trimming. Whichever way you go good luck and welcome to TW.

Alright doll-face, c'mon and bore me!
Isn't masking them in place also tedious, having to trim the masking tape around and inside the letters? Mine was already de-badged when I got it, which I'm happy with, so I'm just asking out of curiosity.

Yeah, I’ve seen the emblems that you can replace with. I REALLY wanted them blacked out and I figured I’d go the “frugal” route and dip them and replace

My OEM emblems are chromed. Never tried to black them out because honestly I don't find them objectionable. The only thing I found objectionable was the dealer tag that I did remove. The stainless steel DU (duck head) that I removed from my tailgate and attempted to retape was a real PITA so I just replaced it. I can't speak to masking emblems while still attached to the truck. I'll leave that to the multitude of folks that have done it.
Absolutely no harm in being curious or asking questions. For the most part we're all here to learn from one another, get new ideas and to help each other out so no offense taken.
Just giving our TW brother a different point of view. Personally I would never suggest or trim tape on the vehicle itself because at that point you'll be scoring your paint finish and inviting corrosion.
If I correctly understand the process others have used is to mask around the lettering, derp and with a tooth pick or something similar remove the unwanted plasti dip.
But I would ask someone who's actually done it. Hope this clarifies my reply to runawaycow.

They are the Yakima JayLow, They work well enough. They get a little stressed when I use them on my tandem kayaks that weigh 60lbs.

    Too much.
I relocated the dashcam from the GoPro mount to under the rearview mirror. I did this because the TSS is still in the way with the GoPro mount.

    Better write up tomorrow.

Thanks for the reply. Even though I quoted your post, I guess my question was directed toward the herd. Masking around the letters and using a toothpick makes sense. I would have thought it might tear the dip.

Nope. You just tape a square around to prevent spraying a big area then once it's dry peel off the tape and excess within the square.

Installed my Morimoto LED fog lights today! The black housing goes well with the BHLM headlights and the LED is great! (Pictures aren’t the best) One more chrome piece gone and 2 more left...A7C33131-D4C9-4868-836A-5F9F4BD54B5F.jpg

Also installed a pair of cubby locks for the truck bed. Real simple and great product from @stlntaco I would say it’s a must have mod if you don’t have a cap/cover on your bed.
