Oooo I didn’t know the ST MAXX came in 285/75/17 until I saw your poll.. niiice! I see you have CMC done, have you started clearing out anything else in prep for the 34s? I think that size is the only one that’ll make me ditch 16s.. I love the look of a 16“ wheel but 285/75/17 is awesome!

Why not just go to the 315/75r16 at .4" bigger and stay with the 16" wheel?

Just seems so much wider than the 285/75/17! But considering I was looking to go 285/75/16, 315/75 is actually much more tall for the amount of width you gain, now that I’m comparing the two.. hmmm. Only +5lbs/each too. Options!! Thanks man I’m gonna look into it. Love the ST maxx

Ive got the CMC done and have cut some of the inner fender liner. I am going to hammer back the pinch weld and hopefully thats enough for a 34. I didnt want to deal with cutting fender brush guards and what not yet so thats why i didnt want to go full on 35

I liked the 285/75/17 size since its only about .7-.8" wider than my current tire and over 2" taller. Should make for less rubbing compared to the much wider 315 size.

Same reason I went 285 and not to a bigger 34 or 35. I also feel the need to have gears with the 285's so any bigger would have killed me with the daily driving. I'm not sure how comparable it is but I had a buddy tell me that with his SCS wheels on his 2nd gen he had to trim his fenders for his 34's. Thats the main reason I went 285's and knowing to go bigger I would want to regear. I had the CMC done after the 285 install do to major rubbing on the cab mount(I expected that) and still need to massage my fender liner and hammer down my pinch weld to fully clear.

I noticed a lot of guys in the various 3rd gen on 35's threads have 17x9 SCS F5's with the 3.5 back spacing. Ive got the 17x8.5 ray 10s with 4.5 back spacing. Kind of another reason i shy'd away from 35's

Yours are the same wheels that I was talking about on the 2nd gen, 4.5 bs Ray 10's. I am tempted to scrounge the coin to get in on the future release of the Ray 10's with the 3.5 bs. Its also because I want different wheels than my FN Fx pros. I like the look of my FN's but they arent wide enough to go to 35's which is something I want, maybe for the next tire purchase. I didnt think I would go bigger than 285's when I originally bought the Fn's and have learned that rock rash is bad and may eventually ruin the wheels. I'm wanting something with a outer rim like the ray 10's so I can just touch it up with paint to make it look better and not affect the main color of the wheel.

oh word!! whats up @derby !!

Getting your hairs did huh? You ought to give my boy Ramse a shout, he is a super legit, old school barber.

I seent that thread and should probably get on it as well but i just dont know if I have any more money for wheels right now. The ray10s on BP have taken a beating! The lip on 3 of 5 are gouged and scuffed up real nicely. Ive thought about refinishing them but then just said eff it. Now when people look at the truck, they always mention that it gets used on the trails since they can see the wheels lol

I feel you on that. The list of mods I "need" does not work well with my current income/debt. I'll likely have to wait and see where I sit when Its time for new tires in a year or so. The items I need to be happy jumping to 35's is a long and expensive one.
