I take everything I said back, another TSB was released about an hour ago from Toyota: TSB-0069-18.

    It reads:

“Certain 2016-2018 model year Tacomas may exhibit poor driving performance due to them being incorrectly fitted with a car motor.

Step 1: Technician should test drive vehicle to make sure it has a car motor fitted before proceeding.

Step 2: If a car motor has been fitted, disconnect all wires and hoses and replace with truck motor.

    Step 3: Test drive vehicle

Step 4: Apply sticker to underside of hood indicating the engine is now fitted with a truck motor.”

Shoulda got the third pedal. Gearing feels just right for this truck. Moves around great between 3-5k rpm.

There's nothing wrong with sharing the same engine as a toyota camry.

Just got a DCLB, OR, AT Taco new over the weekend and I can see how the op thinks its slow. My gas foot feels like there is a spring pushing back at me. Solution push back! Love this truck its like a race car compared to my retired Xterra. On the highway the RPM's are so low 1.5 so takes a second or two to get the RPM's up for the power.
