Sweet Deal on an Alpine 6.5" touchscreen Stereo

I just thought this was a good deal for getting a better stereo in your truck. Plus you can add NAV down the road if you dont have the cash now. Expandibily is key. You can get the whole setup with NAV/ Bluetooth for around $750!!

I was checking this HU out and noticed the preamp voltage is rated @ 2.0v instead of 4.0v like most high-end HU's... what difference would 2.0v vs. 4.0v make? I also noticed that there are no EQ adjustments!? I don't think I could live w/o the EQ. From what I understand you have to use Alpines "Imprint" which I've read mixed reviews on plus the "Imprint" is additional $'s...

 

i do not think the imprint is available on the 203, only the 505

edit: imprint also gives you 4v pre-outs. (which isn't a big deal at all unless your building an audio competition car)

 

Voltage is almost a gimmick because they only list the highest voltage output. Which means if you have all of the settings and volume turned all the way up. I have heard around .25v is all the amp really needs to function properly.

 

Thanks for the education guys... so basically with or with out, 4.0v preamp outs shouldn't be a deal breaker when choosing a HU.

 

I just ordered and installed the w203. It's my favorite mod yet. Very user friendly. I'm still running the stock speakers and a friend of mine thought I had a full system. I almost ordered the Nav from crutchfield too but I found a brand new one on ebay for $180 shipped. Total savings of $470 for a killer DVD w/nav setup. Pick up a TR7 bypass also and you're good to go.

 

I was going to order this until I saw that it didn't have USB input.

 

You can get a cord for 10 bucks that will allow a usb input

 

Does this Alpine allow complete control of an iPod touch?

What is a TR7 bypass?

What cord is the part number for the cord for USB input?

Anything else, I need to buy for this Alpine?

 

clarion makes one you can get from crutchfield for 400 with nav built in already, full eq and usb inputs and whatnot
