Yessir! Wish that rain had held off. Was definitely up for a little more. Maybe pick up some sliders before AOP if I can.

I’d say brake cleaner is good. I always use whatever I have laying around. Brake cleaner, acetone, mineral spirits, whatever. Scuff it up, then hit it with primer.

Good excuse to get duals :D

I’m pretty good of being in a habit of parking where if the truck pops out of gear, it won’t go very far.

Use acetone instead of brake cleaner. If you weld chlorinated brake cleaner that hasn’t fully dried, you can produce some seriously noxious gases that can kill you. Non-chlorinated should be okay but always good to be in the habit of making sure things are dry.

If you are going to weld on it do not use brake cleaner. I just paint right over it and then wonder why all my paint comes off a year later, repeat.

Oh well, to late. But nothing should be getting welded. I’ll go get some acetone for my sliders, although they are bolt on and shouldn’t have any welding involved either.

Just destroyed a $500 weed eater over what started as a bad spark plug. Figure everyone likes a Monday morning laugh at someone else’s expense, so here you go.

Wouldn’t start. Wasn’t getting spark. A trip to the store and $3 yielded me a brand new plug.

When I removed the plug wire “cap” that fastens on top of the plug, I apparently broke it. No worries though, it was an easy fix. I just had to remove the coil and plug wire from the weed eater to fix it.

After some quick zip tie field maintenance, I had that problem solved. All that was left to do was reinstall the coil, plug wire and new plug. Then I’d be back to mowing, raking in all that side money for truck parts my wife to spend.

The next detail is small, but critical to the story. The coil sits directly above the flywheel, and is fastened to the engine by two small bolts. TWO of them. Apparently I only reinstalled one of said bolts.

I buttoned everything up, cranked the bitch up, and went about my business. All of a sudden, the thing starts making all sorts of metal impregnating metal sounds. Then it died.

The side of the coil I didn’t secure fell down into the flywheel that was moving at approximately 5,000,000rpm. Carnage of epic proportions ensued. I cussed, and stomped, and pouted.

    :annoyed: :angrygirl: :bananadead:
