Herculining tire fender/flares steps??

Im planning on Herculing my tire fender/flares tomorrow! Can any tell me if i have the steps wrong?
1. Sand the flare down
2. Rub it down with paint thiner to get all the excess dust and dirt off
3. Just paint the liner on the flares
4. let it dry
5. reinstall

If you could tell me if im doing it right or not? Thanks

 

yea that sounds right just watch out that stuff looks awesome when its new (i did my rear bumper and grille) but it fades real quick

 

Can't you clear-coat it though to help preserve it?

 

I did my grille and light bar and steps with the herculiner and it's already faded. I like the faded look better though than the glossy look. I've read that some armor all will make it glossy looking again and that there's some sort of restoration kit that you can use that will bring the shine back and make it stay. Not sure where I read it though. Sorry. Post some pics when you finish though that'll be neat to see.

 

not sure about the clearcoat but they sell a uv coating from herculiner online but none of the local stores carry it

 

Why do you need to preserve it? You can repaint more Herculiner over it.

Over a span of about 3-5 years, you'll probably have to repaint it anyway especially if its exposed to the elements.
