Well I hope you know a lot about it! Lol

Mine is WAY more in depth than that! New speakers all round, amp and sub.

 

Speakers and amp are easy. Its the sub and box that are going to be tough.

 

I'm sure it will sound that way too but for a little over $200 and to be happier with how the stock stereo sounds it works for me. Would I want better? 100% I have Bose equipment for basically everything else so I know the truck isn't amazing but the difference it made from stock was.

I would do the full sub-less system from Mr. Marv if I were to do it again. The woofers in our trucks don't sound too bad when playing at low volumes but they are shit when you turn them up a little bit.

 

I have the premium system. Already tore it apart and put tile and foam down on the floors and all 4 doors and back wall. It made a big improvement but I want moar noise! It’s just way down on the list of financial priorities right now.

Yeah I want to do everything too. I need a crisper, louder and deeper cabin.

 

I still have sound deadening waiting to be installed in the doors... for over a year now...

 

We talked about this... I need something in the 18" flavor although those would be too soft for me anyways.

 

I skipped that step cause I was being lazy after finding out I would have to pull all of the door hardware....maybe some day

 

I had full intention of doing the doors, mostly because of the road noise, and possibly the back wall. Not because of the sound system... but just to try and get a bit less road noise. Yeah... never got around to doing it. Can't find the time to do it, since it's a bit "involved" with having to take out the door panels, back seats, etc.

Door hardware needs to be removed? What are you talking about?

It isn't any more difficult than the floor or back wall. The reason I haven't done my doors yet is because I wanted to do it when I was installing the speakers

 

You still haven't done yours yet either Rob?! Figured you would have by now since I think I ordered mine around the time you ordered yours, or had just ordered it. I went by your recommendation, and reached out to the guy you told me about. But makes sense why you haven't done it yet then, since you want to upgrade your audio at the same time.

 

x2, I had my doors pulled apart plenty of times (stupid F'in door lock actuator...) and don't recall anything that would need to come out to sound proof the door.

 

Maybe the 3rd Gen doors are different?!

 

To apply the deadening to the doors you need to pull all of the pieces & weatherproofing off the door so you can apply the deadening directly to the metal then reinstall everything you pulled off into the same spots. As @Cativelense said that was just a little too involved to want to do this early on; worst case I'll go back and do it later.
The first couple of minutes is what I'm talking about; that's a lot of effort to pull off all the wiring and hardware then open up holes to reinstall it all again.

Same process no matter the door; the wires and other hardware pieces don't just magically make it through a sticky sheet like that without effort

 

That's not actually too bad to do. You can have that door stripped in a matter of 10 minutes or so. Taking off the hardware from that point going forward, like you would for the door lock actuator is a major PITA but the stuff in that video is simple stuff.

 

I don’t really notice the road noise but what’s been driving me nuts is the “whistling” I get in the door jam by the a pillar when going down the highway. I don’t have any leaking so I’m not sure what isn’t sealing correctly

 

Maybe the rubber has a kink in it?!

 

Not too sure. It really only gets loud when I’m going about 70
