So excited about this! Finally a fix. This issue has drove me nuts since I bought the thing.

I made an appointment at my local dealer for next week. They seemed receptive when I described my need for service on the phone. Hopefully they do it for real when I actually go in.

1st gen owner here. I'm not trying to troll, but needing a software update for your transmission just boggles my mind.:bananadead:

Engine, this is a MT thread, but yeah, unheard of until about 10-12 years ago.

I called and said I wanted to make an appointment for a tech to hook up Techstream and check for any updates. They said okay and made the appt. Been a bit of a PIA in the past with issues so I hope they don't spring any BS on me. Got a 7yr/75,000 ext. warranty and I'm under the 80K/96month limit on the TSB so I don't expect there to be a problem. The next trick is to get them to show me the numbers on TS and/or prove there aren't any updates (if it goes sour).

Update... Just talked to me service rep and he said they would hook it up and see if it has any updates available.

I just explained the issues in 2nd and 3rd fear and asked if they could check it out while it’s there for the clutch pedal and see if they could check on Techstream for any updates...

He said yes. We will see!!!

ummm ya, it's not a software update for the trans, it's for the engine like SContiVT said, it's just that those engine updates were packaged with the AT guys update.

Question... Should they give me something showing it is all up to date??? That way I know if they really did it or not.

Yeah you should get a receipt regardless if they change anything. Mines going in on Friday with 37k miles, hoping it goes smooth.

The TSB says that they are suppose to put the sticker under the hood saying that it's been updated and I believe it'll be outlines in your paperwork too

You will also see it in your vehicle history on the Owners page at Toyota.com.

Now one more question... Since the correct TSB still hasn’t been posted will they base the update off the model number?

Like it says in the TSB, they'll write the new calibration number (04B13) on the work order, vehicle history, and the emissions sticker under the hood.

The AT TSB might get referenced on the work order.

I will def keep you posted about how it goes. I’m getting pumped! If they don’t do it for some reason I’m still gonna get it done one way or another.

I am honestly excited for all the folks that are getting this done.

Same here, if it doesn't happen when I go in for the 10k service, I will be getting real familiar with TS.

It really is easy to do yourself if you have the cable and Techstream. Seems foolproof. I tried installing different versions of it on my truck and only the version that specifically applied to my ECU would allow me to continue, all the other versions (MT versions and '18 versions) told me that my ECU wasn't eligible.

I'll be doing the same, and if I have the same problems, it seems like there's quite a few WA/Seattle manuals in here, maybe we can have a party.

I'm in Port Townsend but tend to float over to Seattle here and there.

Earlier in the thread someone stated it should ping techstream as an ECU update for the manual, regardless where the file is burried. I hope to see that happen.

I'm with you. It doesn't seem any more difficult than doing a FW upgrade on a smart phone. I just haven't invested in a Tactrix or similar cable. I just have a four or five year old bluetooth OBD tool. It works great for Carista and Torque, but . . .
