I'm not sure. Might ask in the Armor sub thread.

Could you fit a spare underneath in the original location? Do you have the hitch too?

The hitch fits right into where my license plate is, you need a custom flip kit off eBay/Amazon for that. The spare I dont know however because I got rid of mine.

Aftermarket front bumpers has nothing to do with airbag deployment on our Tacomas. The sensors are located on the frame rails and are triggered by inertia during sudden deceleration.

So no matter what type of custom bumper we get, it will still deploy the airbags properly in the event of a frontal impact?

Yes. The sensors are not mounted on the bumpers. Although aftermarket bumpers do affect the crush zones during a crash due to it's beefier build vs stock so damage outcomes will obviously vary.

Do you think the impact will be harder on the Tacoma passengers or softer compared to the regular bumpers? I wonder if any testing has been done on these.

No matter how perfect you can possibly drive, there are 300 million morons out there. Good luck with the whole "don't crash" thing. I hope that goes well for you.

My $.02, aftermarket bumpers will likely minimize actual truck damage but may increase frame damage due to reducing the crush zone effect and transferring the impact to the frame. I would take my chances with my aftermarket bumpers in a crash with my family than a stock setup any day. Heck, majority of accidents are fender benders and with aftermarket bumpers, you are likely are able to drive away with very little damage vs stock. This is the same outcome for those who rock climb with armor vs stock.

Definitely harder. You're removing the "give" when you go aftermarket.

Vehicles these days are designed to crush around the passengers. They're designed this way so the vehicle takes the hard hit & not the humans. Replace a compactable bumper w/a non-compactable one & the humans feel it much more.

100000000000000% Agree. The aluminum "bumper" / Support you remove to install the aftermarket are ALL a part of the crumble zone.

I got mine mounted this weekend. I had to do the a/c line notch. The lower valance fought me pretty hard, but I finally got it. I'm still getting used to it as it is a big change from stock.

That new style is pretty sharp! I think it'd look better if they removed the inboard set of fog light holes.
