I used to have a soft cover, before getting a hard one. The soft one did the job for sure. I just wanted to spend money after a while and go for something expensive. If you're just using it to keep stuff from getting wet, it'll do. If you want to keep things in the bed "safer", then a hard one is better. Or ultimately a cap.

Not really to be honest. The soft one I had was Trifecta (I think), and the hard one was a BackFlip G2. Liked them both. But there are many brands out there I'm sure.

Oh thats cool. Here's mine. I was instructed by Mr. Marv to stay inside the channels as his box is a tight fit for the box he builds. The deadening mat keeps down the boom and the acoustic foam lowers the sound intrusion. My doors will be done the same way

Got that 6112 to another shop after picking it up from Kingsley's. The guy looked at it and said "hmm, have never done one of those. Let's see what we can do." Got it set up on a wall mounted press and went to town. He said it was really tight. He got it though.
Know where I am going back to if I have any other problems.

 

It's amazing that shops would have trouble with those springs. What would they do if they needed to swap shocks on a full size or 3/4 ton. I have to believe the front end of a diesel has springs well over the 700# mark, especially if it has the plow package.

 

I think it had to do with getting the compressor arms far enough in to have good contact with the coil. The shock body is huge on the 6112s.
But what baffles me is that the first shop I went to told me that it was stressing their compressor.
Not sure what was going on there......Wasted the morning waiting for them to get to it. Oh well, it is all buttoned up and back to where it needs to be.

Morning all. Had an awesome day yesterday on a pond in Plymouth. Caught some yellow perch, white perch, small mouth and one lone blue gill. Had some beers of course and a ton of laughs with a buddy. Hell of a way to spend a Monday

 

You did a great job! I probably used CDL tiles on like 60-70% of the vehicle and then used a MLV/Closed Cell foam product from secondskin audio over that. I did not however cut out every little hole and make it all perfect like that. Your set up looks better than a lot of shops do

 

Great! Saw a bunch of shooting stars, a ton of satellites (including a few around 9-9:30 that had a really neat low-horizon 'flash' from catching the sun and reflecting it back at us) and only a couple of airplanes. Also, without any light pollution the Milky Way was crazy bright. Katahdin was nice too, but crowded. Usually I go up mid-week when I'm hiking the mountain; I'd forgotten what a mob scene it is on the weekends.
