About to take matters into my own hands and buy the tactrix.

The dealer gets 1 chance. I find it frustrating that if a customer is aware of an issue, and even went through the trouble of finding a TSB, that they still make you feel like you are crazy and cant replicate the issue. Howling diff tsb is another one that im still wasting warranty time while they cant replicate it. Sometimes i just want to walk in the service bay and talk to the tech directly. I will probably get tresspassed lol.....

Got my 15k service next week. I’m trying to figure out how to tactfully get my dealership to update my truck to 04B13.

This is hands down my favorite thread on TW right now.

Read some of the recent posts. I talked to my dealer today about it. They are supposed to be doing it, but we’ll see.

Damn, been in the boonies for three days, come back and there’s now 26 pages of the same shiz. Looking forward to getting this done though. Wouldn’t say I’m used to how my truck shifts - I just expect to have to do it just right.

You can check it with techstream or they can do that too. Asking if there is a sticker or something to show that it has that ID? Open the hood and show them that it has a motor in it with a manual trans, that proves it has one of the 3 ECU IDs. It won’t run without the ECU, it starts up, that proves it has it also.

Not trying to be a wiseass or anything, it’s just that there is no other ID so it’s crazy that you’d have to prove it to them. I think you had the issue with things earlier cause they were looking at the wrong TSB and there are no MT ECUs listed on that TSB.

Maybe this stems from them not doing a simple health check when requested, then telling th customer that they did. From what I have read, the techstream health check will notify of an update.

I have gone thru this with the differential noise tsb. They told me they test drove the truck, yet the mileage was only 1 mile more when they gave my the truck back lol. Im sure they took her up to 60 with all the traffic here......

Edit: they also told me that me recording the clear as day sound with my face in the video was not enough evidence that my truck is affected. You cant make this up lol....

I learned years ago when I had an Evo that dealerships are generally weasel dicks that try and avoid doing just about anything to help except try and take your money.

Those gnat dicks normally make commission and it’s mind blowing how much money these ass rockets can make per year. On top of weaseling out of helping us, they make money hand over fist. You gotta love our country. :)

Oh and by the way, we play 30k plus to get treated like dirty hoes!!!

Burro09, I agree with that. That’s why in my original post I said that they put down they did a health check was done when it obviously wasn’t and that should be taken up with corporate cause they obviously lying and it’s documented. I think they are lying cause they mistakenly checked the 0062 TSB, saw no MT ECU listed and felt confident that the customer was dumb and doing a healthcheck would show nothing. Little did they know that the customer actually did know that there is an update.

I've got an appointment thursday AM to see what they can do. Perhaps this might help some people, if someone can prepare me a bit for the appointment.

When they give me my receipt - will it absolutely show techstream was connected, assuming they did use it?

Is it possible for them to use techstream in front of me, where I can go "see here..."

People are having that exact problem though. The dealer is telling them to fuck off. Also, I haven't tried yet, my appointment is next week. I think youre confusing me with another white Tacoma owner :D
I agree it's crazy and we shouldn't have to prove anything. But a lot of dealers are not so logical. I was just trying to help people bring a stronger argument to their dealer to get the upgrade done. If this was such a piece of cake this thread would have ended many posts ago.

I haven't told them any symptoms, I'm gonna stick with "plug in techstream" and that's it tomorrow morning.
