Havent posted in ages but got back into a tacoma recently. Pretty excited to start working on it. Here are a few things Ive done so far...

The steering wheel logo is held on by a bunch of small plastic tabs that you need to completely cut out. Of course painting the chrome is easy, but it's been a pain in the ass finding quick drying glue that won't melt everywhere in this heat and I don't have the patience to perfectly cut out some 3M tape. If you're careful you don't need to disconnect the battery for the airbag but I'd take out the fuse for the horn so your neighbors don't hate you

 

How does having a more negative offset make the tire rub on the uca? Should be the other way around

 

Overload in or out?

I don't want to derail this thread, but the wife is making me do it.

I need to get a 2" hitch for her 2016 Rav4. Is there a section of these forums that would have that discussion or do I just need to search random vendor sites and piece together reviews? I trust fellow owners more than vendor site reviews...and I know several on here have a Tacoma for themselves and a Rav4 for their significant others.

I know 2" is larger than the Rav4 generally needs, but I don't plan on using it for towing, just the occasional "hitch hiker" to carry a cooler or two.

Thanks in advance for any advice. I think for every 5-6 mods of the Tacoma, she wants one for her Rav4.

 

This doesn’t make sense. You’re running stock Off-road wheels, and the stock tire size on the Off-road is 265/70-16. If you have rubbing, you have an issue other than tires and wheels. Unless I’m missing something else....

 

Im putting on 265/70/17 Wildpeaks on Friday. We shall see...

You are absolutely right. I stand corrected! I was picturing it ass-backwards in my head. Thanks for correcting me. Had good intentions but I may have caused some confusion. I’ll just go back to my cave now....

 

This is a quality of life purchase. I have a better trust with a aluminum die cast than a molded plastic piece dealing with high heat for a long period of time especially for the life of the truck. I purchased and installed the Dorman OE-Solutions Oil Filter Cap one of the best investments.

Umm... Excuse me Sir, but there was nothing wrong with your initial statement. It was very much correct.

He didnt say that “more neg offset makes tire rub on UCA”....
